Poetry Contest Description
Write a poem about love online and how it made you feel , the doubts and the not knowing where the other one was and the obvious outcome of this internet relationship
A Familiar World (SP Summerscales)
I just know
on this slippery
spherical
globe
the breath
of fate
or some other wind
should've blown
if only whats written
could grow wings
that could've flown
to a turn
to a different time
where you were all mine
and I was in your world
that of my pretty girl
a dreamer I know
sorry I couldn't help it though
just kick me from this here stool
anything other than this would do
its a cruel , cruel
world of awful reality
messing with my dying
my unlawful so called sanity
you live and breathe
in a computer
thats infront of me
your pictures and words
without doubt profound
from a foreign country
in a familiar world
without sound
but loud to me
even though your voice
has never been heard
I hope you hear this
from me .

i love you
i know its crazy but i do
usually idont like anyone as young as you
but i love you
i have never known happiness to this degree
i have never seen you in person
i have never heard your voice in person
nor have i ever had the pleasure to feel your lips
i hate not being able to see you
i hate not being able to hear you
i hate not being able to feel you
i hate not being able to be there for you
...
you hurt me
you hurt me more than i thought anyone could
yet i still love you
why am i so weird?

Far Apart But Close At Heart
How can anyone feel this way
never even having met before
Its like
I have known you
my whole life
I feel like I can
tell you anything
You make me smile
with just one message
Your words fill my inbox
I sift through them often
After each conversation
I wonder why we could not
have met in person
I curse the circumstances
that don't allow us to be
I hate the distance
but its such a pure romance
Never having had the physical heat
yet we have melted together emotionally
How can anyone feel this way
never even having met before
Its like
I have known you
my whole life
I feel like I can

We never met though
We never met though
but the smell of your being is so familiar
like the moldy musk of russet pages,
of an archaic library book;
Wells up in my blood as miasmic serenity
We never met though
But I can still feel the reserved caress on the tattoo at my back,
The touch engraving its savvy mumble on my membrane;
The way it Retards my conduct,
Smothering my soberness
We never met though
But the slitting voices whisper through my ear ,
Conspire against my neurons,
As I hasten up being lonely into the dark lasting alley
Rupturing my illusionary inertia.
We never met though
but the smell of your being is so familiar
like the moldy musk of russet pages,
of an archaic library book;
Wells up in my blood as miasmic serenity
We never met though
But I can still feel the reserved caress on the tattoo at my back,
The touch engraving its savvy mumble on my membrane;
The way it Retards my conduct,
Smothering my soberness
We never met though
But the slitting voices whisper through my ear ,
Conspire against my neurons,
As I hasten up being lonely into the dark lasting alley
Rupturing my illusionary inertia.

"Sometimes I talk to my dreams"
I told him I hate
his gung-ho spontaneity
self-possession
and especially his obsession
with reality
that I hate
his ability to spin pleasure
from naught
even if it is due in part
to his fine choices
for freedom
I told him I hate
the way he coos to transience
and reveals character
with simplicity
and silence
But I didn't tell him aloud
what really bothers me
though my conscious
could almost hear it said-
I left out that I hate
how the tensity in my shoulders
evaporates
when he's entered
the atmosphere
and I failed to mention
that I hate
when he hints the hard stuff
because he knows
I'll catch it
and take it better that way
I didn't tell him I hate
that he's the primary place
I happen upon happiness
and inspiration
And what I hate
most of all, is that
I'll wake
to find him still
a dream
I told him I hate
his gung-ho spontaneity
self-possession
and especially his obsession
with reality
that I hate
his ability to spin pleasure
from naught
even if it is due in part

The donkey and the Empress
'You bray like a donkey dumbo. lol.'
'No way. God! I was simply pulling
your pants, err legs. lol.'
'You are my empress. If in some alternate
reality I am the king of the cosmos then
you are my empress. For a king can have
many princesses. But just one empress.
You....'
-Excerpts from a chat(Distant past)
Asocial being
on social networking-
1. Vague
2. Hollow
3. Distant
with myriad scope
stumbled upon a face
angelic
telling
approached with apprehension
despite being a seasoned player
of psychology and eulogy
She talked
he spoke
he was the writer,
she was the subject
a-guinea-pig
distant
lovely
Sitting in her sprawling expanse
of expensive concrete, she blinked
while he sat on his throne
bought from a non-descript smuggler
at a profitable bargain
Two worlds
Two words
She picked and questioned
Two words gave birth to
a million more
Being a veteran player/
a habitual drifter/
a pseudo romantic
he acted like usual
She got carried away
(or maybe he did)
She smiled
and laughed
300 texts
and then she called him
(The electromagnetic signal
in between cellular phones
conveying the hope and urgency)
after he called her
Awkward silence
and euphoria
and then
1. Words tumbled
2. The joy knew no bounds
3. Tears flowed
4. Secrets were unraveled
5. Hearts were opened
6. Emotions poured
The clock ticked away
harmonized
ethereal
eternal
He was happy
She seemed happy
But the truth that floated above
them-drunk in bliss-screamed
The perfect life is never perfect
May be it was too loud
for them, to hear
and then they did

The discovery-
painful it was
And they told themselves-
Us-totally-wrong-for-each-other
The bitterness-
1. ate
2. corroded
3. maimed
She kept on drifting
Was she ever really there
in the first place?
Who will answer
and who will question
and why
Soul asylum is dark
and his soul is trapped
as she drifts beyond
the event horizon
sucked into the pulsar
of life-perfect and waiting
The idea of which
he could not understand
the prices being the variant
quoted on a square feet of concrete
that reflected so much
in the psyche
Is she gone
Is she here
W h e r e
The deafness of silence
The darkness of brightness
Coexisting melancholy
with chemical euphoria
Life
Love
or the absence of both
Fulfilling emptiness.

Cybernetic Romance
Sunrise on the Eastern Sky
As it crawls to midnight in yours
A yawn and a good morning
I whisper as I log on
I see your name and I smile
My beloved is online
A smiley, a hi
And we are both on high
Romance in the air
We are, in datas
That tick and click into the bank
Of the CPU
I gaze and adore your avatar
A knight, a smith
A bard, a minstrel
A man, a lover
A messenger so swift
A poet of old
You speak your mind
I understand
You pour out your heart
Shaking me to my core
For you say without constraint
What need to be said…
Your wish for love
For truth and honesty
For adoration sent from up above
Your need for togetherness
Your need for surcease
Of life’s unhappiness
You say them all
To me without restraint
Your likes, dislikes
Your needs and wants
Your desires
Your aspirations
We talk of love
Of loving and giving
Pleasures and delights
In our worldly realms
Of dreams of fulfillment
And a coming together
The night grows old
And hanker for dawn
We say goodnight
A smiley on hold
A click, a waving smiley
Computer shutdown.

Stranger? i see no danger
i can only talk
and never to see
no flesh, just a picture
but anyway, It tells something to me
I can't always be sure
what you tell me Is true
but for some strange reason
I know I can trust you
If only I had a friend like you
In real life
no confusion
hate, or need of strife
even If we are never to meet
I know that you'll always be there
and I'll find the time too
to make sure that I care
so some kind of stranger
let me look into your eyes
don't give whys and wherefore's
reason or surprise
i can only talk
and never to see
no flesh, just a picture
but anyway, It tells something to me
I can't always be sure
