This photo is Amazing!

At first glance, it seems like someone’s reading in the water, but when you zoom in, you realize there’s no person, no book, no study—just an illusion.

Life is much the same; it appears one way, but beneath the surface, it’s entirely different.

Flowers picked today (Xmas Day) from the garden... and yes, the oranges are ready for picking, as well as limes and lemons.

Last Christmas, Chandra X-ray Observatory gave us a cluster of stars. This year, new telescope views (combined with Chandra data) gave us something special: https://go.nasa.gov/3DI9H2s

In 2014, photographer Chris Levitan captured a rare and mesmerizing moment involving Capella, the brightest star in the constellation Auriga. Without any editing, your lens recorded an intriguing figure of double inverted triangle, likely caused by the diffraction of light in an ice crystal that passed through the exact angle as soon as the click click.

Capella, with its apparent magnitude of +0.24, is one of the brightest stars in the night sky, positioning itself as a cosmic beacon 42.2 light-years away. Its proximity to the Celestial North Pole makes it even more special for astronomers and sky lovers alike.

This remarkable record shows the magic that unfolds when science and art come together, uncovering phenomena that feel almost impossible to recreate. It makes you wonder-how many more mysteries does the universe still hold?

Hopefully it will be inspiring enough to prompt change.

The HOPE sign is back up! I've been asking myself, What exactly do I hope for? I'm starting a list by Joe Lamb.

1) I hope you keep a hope list too.
2) that we hope our way forward, instead of fear our way back (and yes, hope and fear are motion verbs).
3) that we build strong compartments in our psyche to contain our fear and anger so they don't leak onto everything and skew our sense of direction.
4) that we spend more psychic capital on loving and restoring our Earth than we do on othering our opponents.
5) that our creativity and ability for complex thought teach us that empathy is a survival emotion.
6) that everyone who values honesty rises up in defense of truth, truth as in not lying, truth as in not tolerating lying.
7) that our religions evolve to embrace the vast and astoundingly beautiful universe revealed by the Webb Telescope, a universe that invites infinite curiosity.
8.) that grass grows, rivers run, and water falls from the sky.
9) that strangers on trains fall in love.
10) that our children forgive us.

What do you hope for?
