Adding Sound Bites or Audio Files

This just an idea that I'm throwing out there. We have the option to link a YouTube video of a spoken poem, and we can also add an image as well. However, would it possible to add an option where we can insert an audio file or a sound bite? Often when I post a poem I think "Man, wouldn't it be cool if there were some ambient sounds in the backround?". Just a thought, but I would love to hear any thoughts and feedback.

I concur. As well as YouTube, an MP3 file as a soundbite, or linking soundcloud or something like that would be a lot more beginner friendly in terms of adding a spoken dimension to poems.

I would much rather upload my audio poem/videos from my own files over having to put them on YouTube.

Absolutely. I'm not looking to replace the current options, I just want some more added, especially since there are some people who don't use YouTube.

I completely agree with you
Making a video for YouTube is a daunting task if you aren’t just recording it outright. Having the option to upload audio files would be really great and like mentioned above, much more beginner-friendly. I think the biggest issue would be storage for the files that are uploaded. That could potentially be a lot of data to store. This is a great suggestion though; I’ve often wished I could just voice record my poems and upload them directly, or even record them elsewhere and link them. It’s a bit more work to make YouTube videos every time.

I hadn't thought about storage being and issue. Hmmm, maybe one of our very tech savvy moderators could figure out a solution or work around. All in all, I would still love to see it implemented if possible:)

With the help of audio and video, you can add more materials to poems

I remember that one poetry site I was on years ago, Starlite Cafe, used to have it that you could select an ambient instrumental song to play in the background of a poem and as cool as that was sometimes none of the musical choices that they had on offer really fit so often I just picked the closest thing that might fit, which could be a little off at times. Sometimes, I just didn't select one at all if it was too-too off. It's a cool idea for those who'd want to use it, even if it isn't something I'd be likely to find all that useful overall. Me, I'd be more delighted if either the size limit of a written work could be increased, so I could post longer works if I felt like it, or perhaps if they could make it so we could submit up to three or four works a day instead of two. Just to make it easier to submit longer works or longer works divided into several parts, without having to eke the parts out over a lot of days. That's my two cents worth, anyway! :)

Even if there was an option to add a sound cloud widget, that would help. That would eradicate the majority of the storage problem whilst providing an audio upload option without the faff of video.

Quite interesting, may I speak.
