Poetry Contest

Life as a thimble with 12 lines or less. Inspirational and non erotic. No AI, please.
Not in the competition.

In the patchwork quilt store
life is but a thimble in a basket
or lost in a pocket of time
with a clock to mend the socks
molding life around one's finger
a goblet full of suspicious dreams
in the patchwork quilt store

No thimble...

In a sewingroom
ten agile fingers
moving around
the fabric parts.

pins and needles hidden
sting the fingers
and pierce the skin
under the weight of work.

where's the thimble
that's been bought past times
for the disjointed fingers,
so complex fingers?...

where are all
the thousands of thimbles
that one's been taking home
for the last centuries on?

Life Shield, a Thimble

my life has been profound
compactly simple like a thimble
small but experiences abound
memories' thread sewed in time

dreams were carefully spun
thimbles in actions simply worn
against hurtful words acted on
pricked and hurt humble minds

small gestures akin to a thimble
to ensure against offence
life and living always assert
hearts  offended, Souls be hurt.

Thimble's Legacy

I am the thimble,
With my comrades, needle and thread,
We traverse the cloth,
Like a knife through a cake, finely bred.

I shield nimble hands,
From the sting of the needle's pain,
Guiding the direction,
Ensuring the thread stays sane.

Thimble am I, patient and wise,
In my existence and beauty,
Discerned from the art summarized.

....my entry.. this was fun for a change!! It is a nice idea.

The Silver Thimble

Great grandma used a silver thimble
aid in darning and mending stuff,
she turned shirt collars and shirt cuffs
elbow, fingers, wrist so nimble
her work she made to seem simple
with pride with thrift and whole-life skills
on cotton, denim and on twill
this mother of all invention
nowadays don't get a mention
to make do and mend and, with a will.

Best If Worn on the Middle Finger

*

If life were a thimble slick, nimble, and quick,
with ease it would lick every needling prick!

Life as a thimble

Its not running over
said life as a thimble of mine

Its very wide not small
not the perfect kind

Its filled with truths
partially damaged by lies

only to be calmed
by the sweetest of ryes

nothing can change
this life
as a thimble
of mine

Of Maps, Stitches and Pain

Life has never been that simple
It can resonate through hard crashes
Metaphorically with symbols and cymbals
Like a tiny cap and needle on a thimble
In which the smallest detail causes some pain

And once the fabric of life is woven
Through every crinkle, crease and wrinkle
All the stitches will have created a pattern
Resembling a map to where we are going
But mostly, where we have been

To will a thimble

It was her last wish
in a velvet box, with silver clip
magic was its dimpled thrust
to bend the thread of life as such
bring love or wealth, embroidered stitched
a silver dimpled one time wish
but as the lawyer read the will
there was just one codicil
each relative gave up a gasp
requisites, that were her last
the digit must be a perfect fit
that points the way to such a gift
