A Bird's Agony (Finally Free)

There's no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you
That's an amazing quote attributed to the great Maya Angelou
As the caged bird flew outta its cage and engaged a symphony
Singing loudly about being free to express tales about its journey

Conveying how dichotomies keep enemies in a constant state of war
Even Biblical allegories provide revelations about how they'll be more
It relays how much of a chore it is trying to soar to empyrean
And how its seen many scenes of things done by human beings

Saying how taxing these things are to its ability to fly
While dodging bombs bursting in the sky like the 4th of July
A far cry from desideratum dreams it wished upon a fallen star for
As humanity collectively seems to be knocking on Heaven's door

Let's Get Cynical, Cynical

It’s kind of ironic of those who speak up
To say we should silence those who seek free speech
It's oxymoronic not to censor themselves
When they don’t seem to practice what they preach

But it’s really about power and control
When their point of view is the only view they see
It doesn’t matter whether it’s right or wrong
Banning others with orders by the powers that be

But there’s a contraction and difference
Especially of those who incite hate and violence
The danger lies in the underlying message
When pushing some into subjugation and silence

The morally corrupt love to erupt and disrupt
The flow of synergy when things don’t go their way
They’re cynical but they’re really miserable
It’s a true a sign of their own infernal internal decay

I don't want to hear that gaudy talk

If the Shoe Fits

We project personal definitions—
reflections mirrored in our mind
creating a double-exposure
of truth: 'yours or mine'
'us or them'

We dissect meaning
through filtered programming
convinced with certainty
that what we read
or how we see a thing
should determine
what it truly means

When, in fact
it means nothing of the sort

When it comes to politics
—personal or national—
it seems difficult to distinguish
what we believe
from actual truth
so, we assign our own

Until the lions have their day
history is written by the hunter

those wielding power

Yet, every hunter dies
eventually, and the lions
whose nature is unchanged
—unlike humans—
have procured a new generation

So, everything
changes in time
That's a guarantee

Patience is a middle name
donned by the just—
those who believe

So, if the shoe fits
by all means, wear it
until the Reaper presents
your departing ticket
and the lions remain

Because despite scheming
and underhanded bias
one can never be certain
another's intent
was personal insult—

Especially when it wasn't
~

SELF*ISH

Self made self-esteem
Self worth of a King
Seems to be selfish?
Naw, he's actually selfless

But he won't settle for less
Deserves all your self best
Self tests of introspection
A GOD in his resurrection

Reincarnation in a new form
A rising Sun after the storms
Nonconformer standing on his two
Each quadratic made for him not u

Been through the mud but remains pristine
Fashionable; looking so fresh & so clean
Gleaned the means on how to survive
And, BY ANY MEANS, he'll surely thrive

Speak

cracked, dry lips
tight, nervous throat
daring to utter
her own wants,
her own needs;
the sound still so small
from behind
these iron bars,
this poorly welded cage
built ‘round her tongue;
cracks and fissures
in the seams
give her just enough
confidence
to whisper defiance;
her mouth will be
free, at last when
her quiet voice
grows loud enough
to scream

PECCANT ELEPHANTiasis
(If I Had a Penny for Every Time my mouth was not Connected to my Brain,
I’d be Beyond Bourgeois!)

Speaking from a hugger-mugger’s perspective
be they online or a trace of face to face
often bravery comes
without thought
for when they speak from a ready stance
ears clogged or closed
many a word or infinite
fall into a mutual abyss of
thoughtlessness.

I can not say how many Friendships
have gone to my memory graveyard
or how many times
restitution and or apologies
are not enough ----
online aaaaand physically!

If there was someone
recording regrets
then all of the latter, here,
would be my regretful
Latter Letter Tome.

Magnets

It’s always difficult to listen to someone we don’t like
Then again, they may be liked by many others
Our differences are what make us all unique
But how far do we go to tolerate it?

Some people are like magnets
They attract some
While with other magnets
They repel each other by that invisible field
I don’t have to fully go into the science behind it all
I just accept it for what it is

It’d be hypocritical of me to say others shouldn’t be heard
I try to keep my emotions in check
Unless their moronic notions are hurting others
And it’s a blatant attack on integrity and character

The truth is
The world has gotten skewed by some
Dark psychological phenomena that bends reality
And not the physical or visual
But an emotional, cognitive one
A dissonance
So it has become the responsibility of many to speak up
To stand up on the side of humanity

A KING'S DREAM

Had a dream that I was king of all that I survey
Awakened & shakened by nightmares of today
I want to look away but I can't take a blind eye
I'm no longer asleep so in bed I can't lie

I dreamt that I was King before the sting of the bullet
After conversing with Malcolm about the outcome of the ballot
Got a bird's eye view of the two strategizing
Devising a plan to take a stand; compromising

No more singing or marching; that ain't it
No more waiting or debating; neither hit
Whether we sit or take a knee; you don't see
The pain constantly playin' is our reality

I Offend Thee

Will I get smacked for this if I get many people pissed?
Will I offend thee if I bust a nut all over your Fendi?
My colorful vernacular is always used purposefully
And the nonstop hardy har har laughs will make thee pee

Sure as shit I’ve had my share of close shaves with death
So fuck it, I like to go all out when I write since it’s a short life
Thus I cuss when I discuss the fuss and suspense about the puss
But I watch my mouth if the fuzz is around (the mom or wife)

My offensive language is a sandwich of decorum and wit
One can’t be too sensitive, gotta be able to take a punch…
…line, it’s not a crime…maybe because I’m a little too bananas
Then again, if it’s fun to pun and get some panties in a bunch

GREAT STATE OF ECSTASY

I'm gonna take u to the great state of Ecstasy
A place exclusively created for just you & me
Where the county creed is to come in peace
And billboards say, "It's Time To Release"

To decrease the inner beast known as stress
To increase your elation instead of compress
To depress keyboard keys displaying misery
To coalesce madness & sadness into beauty

A universe to converse about the days & times
As the powers that be are commiting crimes
Trying to make mimes outta folks who choose to think
Whom olfactory cells smell how well they stink

Pouring down the sink, pink coolaid served
Refusing to drink the ink that's underserved
As the under served are blurred outta the pics
Their broadcasting what's being served at picnics
