I Offend Thee
Will I get smacked for this if I get many people pissed?
Will I offend thee if I bust a nut all over your Fendi?
My colorful vernacular is always used purposefully
And the nonstop hardy har har laughs will make thee pee
Sure as shit I’ve had my share of close shaves with death
So fuck it, I like to go all out when I write since it’s a short life
Thus I cuss when I discuss the fuss and suspense about the puss
But I watch my mouth if the fuzz is around (the mom or wife)
My offensive language is a sandwich of decorum and wit
One can’t be too sensitive, gotta be able to take a punch…
…line, it’s not a crime…maybe because I’m a little too bananas
Then again, if it’s fun to pun and get some panties in a bunch

hi dearest Wally I often offend people when I write
it's not directed at anyone usually but it still does
I think we should all be able to write what we like
given a mood...there are very few places where it is safe
for example to release negative energies
I use writing to do so...I love you humor
and think you should say what you like ❤️

With the way the world is right now, many people easily take offense to small things. There's got to be a balance, knowing that not everyone will walk on egg shells vs. being down right insulting or rude.
I like to be PC most of the time because I'm aware of other culture's and customs. I have a potty mouth, but I also watch what I say in public or be respectful.

Those of us who write poetry (like politics) know we can't please (agree/disagree) with all of our readers. I add humor to show the irony because I know I can also take offense if I read something I disagree with, but I just won't put too much time or effort to retort/respond to something I don't like.

Very much a 'Wally' poem. I reckon taking offence is a choice the 'offended' person chooses to take. One can also 'not like it' and at the same time choose not to take offence. Oh for a more psychologically mature population, especially in these times of pumped polemicism.

You're absolutely right. We can't take offence for every little thing. I can't please everyone and not everyone can please me. The world has gotten more complicated, it's not just black and white with shades of grey, it's a spectrum of colors, a diversity of sorts and we have to be able to adapt.

It's a complicated world (or may be it's been complicated all along and as I've gotten older I see it clearer). I think there's a fine line (from what I've seen) certain folks who have gone over the edge trying to be down right offensive on purpose vs. having a real honest viewpoint.
If I get insulted or take offense, it's just fuel for more funny poetry.

This wasn't offensive in the slightest, and was quite a clever exploration of when it's OK to use certain language. I like all our different idioms and swears... I don't use bad language gratuitously, but it IS part of the language and definitely has its place! Loved this.

I agree, swearing has to be used appropriately to enhance the color and emotion of conversations/poetry/speeches. As for me, I love me some humor, to show the irony, the sarcasm in some subjects. I may not be the best at writing, but I'll try my hardest to make you laugh.
