Poetry Contest

Get inspired by a poem written by a fellow DU member, and write a response poem
Hello Amazing Poets!!

I have been here for (only) six inspiring months and in this time have read some incredible poetry that has prompted me to write a poem in response. That, and I love writing response poems to any writing that moves me!

Guidelines:
1.Write a response poem to a poem written by another fellow DU member (not your own poem)
2.After your title, please give love to your inspiration by stating in italics DU member and title of their poem; example: after Jane Doe's 'Love Thy Neighbor'
3.Please link the inspirational poem at the end of your poem
4. no restrictions on length, do what makes sense to you!

other bits of info:
no erotica
new writes only
only kindness and love accepted
as many poems as you want to write will be accepted
I will pick the winner

November is a heart-warming month for me, and so quite fitting for me to host a competition for the first time. Please be patient with me. If I have failed to suggest something or failed to guide you in the way that you need, please let me know! I will respond as soon as I can.

Most importantly, please have fun.

Hugs and Hearts,
ursa 💜

Hello, Keilani, and thank you for creating, and posting your beautiful poem, and introducing me to another beautiful poem 'Awaken the Snow' by Kasai. Sincerely appreciated.

A Sestina for Jade

Statistics said she didn’t stand a chance
Now I wonder more about why she’s gone
The words she wrote had something else to tell
While on lock down when we were on all indoors
Like a foreboding to reflect on life
As everyone else had to stay apart

And then as we all tried to stay apart
We didn’t know who amongst us stood a chance
While many were very careless with life
The plague swept away and then they were gone
As she wrote about being stuck indoors
Suffering with something she wouldn’t tell

But then again as far as we could tell
We thought we’d be ok while staying apart
I know she must’ve hunkered down indoors
Writing poetry, not leaving this to chance
It’s just that we didn’t know she’d be gone
As her words reflect a beautiful life

I ponder about this delicate life
Fleeting moments as only verse can tell
One moment we’re here and the next we’re gone
Even if it seems like we’re falling apart
With drive we strive to have a fighting chance
Even while in the confines of being indoors

In the creative process when indoors
She must’ve had a different look on life
Her faith was tested but not left to chance
Poetry was the perfect way to tell
Even as the world seemed to fall apart
Writing verse was a way to mourn those gone

And I mourn again now that she is gone
Thinking of all those days being stuck indoors
As society teared itself apart
Clinging to the delicate balance of life
Her unabridged tale is a verse to tell
Like hope for others to have a fighting chance

She was best so I’m glad I got the chance
To have read her soulful verses that tell
On the musings and delicacy of life

I love those poems. Thanks for making my day. I wasn't expecting that I will find this post while reading reviews for the www.ogscapital.com/business-plan/business-plan-for-investors/ website. Now, I will visit here every day to read poems.
