To Slip:  hello: there are variations to what you suggest.  Stanzas can have different meters or rhyme schemes.  What you suggest is excellent.  Use the format you prefer.  Also some stanzas have two  quatrains and one sestet. Others are 4-4-3-3.       PS:  something new to me that I have to check:  some people are using a 4-4-4-2 format.. Does this help?  Regards, Robert.

With respect:  ok, I like the poem, but I must  verify something.  Sonnet formats are usually 4-4-3-3 or 4-4-6. I have not yet seen  a 4-4-4-2 scheme.

Not entirely.  Go with what feels best for you....within the  Stanza format.  PS: some people are submitting 4-4-4-2 lines.  I have never seen such, I must educate myself on this and find out more.  Usually I see 4-4-3-3 or  4-4-6 lines.
As for the rhyme schemes you do also have some liberty.  Regards, Robert.

thanks for the guidance Robert. I will attempt an offering 4-4-4-2 and 10 syllables each line

Hello there. 4-4-4-2 with 10 syllables on each line in iambic pentameter is a classic English sonnet. Refer to Shakespeare.

Mysteries of Lesbos  (English sonnet)

Some speak, whispered tones, hide a knowing wink
wears the crown, no man can receive or share
Isle so small, reputation vivid pink
femininity starred in outlines bare

Tongues of tenderness, writhe her furry pit
ground rules that specify it's TIT for TAT
devouring lips, that raise abandoned hips
erotica willed, never a (miss)hap

Not effigies in bronze or stone are they
beauties cast, with flesh the upholstery
the gay, those still the willing of today
sip the sweetness from the cup so sultry

Pairs finer gender, magnet's of action
Lesbos, home to womanly attraction
