Perspectives

I

My love is unequivocal. To sin,
a manor born, and in that house we dwell,
us mortal billions. Begin
to understand, I beg. The hell
I fear is not a Middle Age dungeon.
I would not hurt you if I could.
For my eternal condition
is just as tied to origins of wood
and rock. The bleak, corrupted earth.
That your urges are of Sodom
does not mean mine are worth
a damn. The caul of man drips with venom.

The hell I fear is death without my God.
But we are still brothers, from womb to sod.

II

As if my test must be harder - because
when I was twelve the core of my being
refused to take the mould, but paused
instead at my own sex - I’m told a ring
cannot be mine. We fight in sight
of God and governors for what should be
a simple right, a human right
enjoyed as a matter of course, though we
are pointlessly denied. We win,
or think we do. The violence and cold
we felt outside Love’s gates, the sin
that you claimed lived in us, lost hold.

But now, again, you lash out in your hate
and try to lock Love’s businesses, too late.

I get it if the host wants to boot me from this contest, but as this competition did end up inspiring me to write something, I thought I’d share.

Jumping in once more with a gentle reminder that this comp is not for hate speech and bashing or goading other members here at DUP. It is intended to show thoughtful and courteous agreement and disagreement with, the topic matter.

Just crumbs at the table

Did god just feed us crumbs of wisdom
a testament with pages hidden

And left the blinds half drawn
to use our minds and move the pawns

Straightjacket scriptures
to join the dot's, complete the pictures

Question its veracity
clamped like a vice and not break free

Hell an damnation reigning down
cause divisions, a baker or a social clown

Decisions that will click the switch
repercussions, with there longer reach

For a civil bond not tied to god
or walk pained path, behind the cross

Their celebration, with confection sweet
and morals that seem indiscreet

For if they chose a road to hell
NO need to drown within its swell

The Jewish cake shop, welcomes with open palms
behind smiles, hid there alarms

Tiered iced perfection, now complete
but underneath lies hate and SPIT

Not to overwork the mix
a confection, the knife of justice splits

Just an update here:  this comp is being locked until it can go to vote, when it reaches its end time & date.  While it had drawn some relevant conversation and concerns, it has also drawn some hate speech and personal attacks by some who have entered submissions .  Those have been removed and in the best interests of keeping the peace while fostering healthy conversation, opinions and interactions among members, the host is in agreement that there are enough valid entries at this point and no need to leave this open for more possible negativity.

So stay tuned for voting in a few more days, and thank you to those who have thoughtfully participated.
