melancholy soul

my soul adrift in pain
succumbs to the inner blue holding me tightly
melancholy thoughts my only company

I seek friendship but fail to connect
watching from afar I keen
my tears go unnoticed
I cry inside where no one can see my loneliness

here in my sanctuary of grief
I keep a diary of hurt
depression my master I linger
inside the dark where no can see me
it hurts to be this invisible
a ghost of myself

people wonder where I went
down the corridor of sadness
lost in the madness
I can't find my way back
I cry a lonely hello
no one hears my voice
bleak is the day that sees me here

but my soul is beautifully flavored with blue
even in doubt I know
there is a purpose for even this

melancholy a loving teacher
I've come to appreciate the ones I love more dearly

Behind a Loneliness

( a Quatern )

Behind a loneliness that grows a stain,
There is no reason to remember why.
A heavy deluge of my thoughts like rain
Is spreading ‘cross the ceiling like a sigh.

A split begins to crawl across the space
Behind a loneliness that grows a stain,
As spider veins will turn into a face
With hollow eyes expressive of its pain.

A pall of weariness, a constant drain
Is keeping me from rising where I lay.
Behind a loneliness that grows a stain,
The storm will keep me hidden from the day

The hand of Time, no ticking does it make
To help me know there’s nothing left to gain.
To recognize the mirrors are for my sake
Behind a loneliness that grows a stain.

Lost Amid the Sound

The walls are closing in
But all the screams won’t make them go away
Is anybody listening?
The dream seems more like a nightmare

No one sees his eyes
Ever so distant, long gone and withdrawn
No one pays attention
To the soul with his back up against the wall

And there, amidst the crowd
With the music loud and everyone dancing
He stands aside in the shadow
Like a castaway waiting to see the light

Still no one notices
The ghost in plain sight of everyone around
Lost amid the sound
The lonely spirit drifts away into the night

Forgotten

Always third
Never first
Rarely second

Never us
Always them
Then me

Afterthought
Oh, you forgot
Didn’t realize

I give up
We never were
Go to them

Heavy

it's not hollow like they say.
But heavy where I lay.
I cannot move.
I cannot breathe.
I must stay, not leave.

it’s not hollow but weighs a ton
I lay here till it’s done
I cannot see
And again, I cannot breathe
So, I wait, and grind my teeth,
Patiently still, to take my leave.

it’s not like a gun,
Bang Boom then it’s done,
but a melon baller scraping pressing at my core
Like someone knocking down my door.
Full force, heavy not hollow
For a long, moment,
But after the movement
its empty,
scraped and gouged once more

i am nothing, empty, with that weight still in me
the obtrusion of my day to day at its core
at my door, tapping ever so, to tell me once more
“i must stay”
For its heavy not hollow
it can’t move
it can’t breathe
so, i shall not dare to leave.
