Black Lives Matter doesn’t like it. As a black American woman, I don’t like it. It’s pandering to shut people up instead of getting real change. Also, they’re not happy with their d.c mayor. It’s not over.

Catholic Bishop Mark Seitz had no idea that his act of solidarity in El Paso, Texas, would be met with a phone call of gratitude from his boss, Pope Francis.

With eyes closed, masks covering their faces, white roses in hand and handwritten signs that read "Black Lives Matter," Seitz and 12 other priests from the Diocese of El Paso knelt in silence for 8 minutes and 46 seconds on Monday.

SHE is NOT a Black American woman.  She will NEVER understand what it is like to be a Black American woman.  And her making such statements is a slap in their face and attempt to control the narrative of this movement from a white perspective.

White people need to shut the fuck up with our issues of and need for control and follow the Black leadership's cue on this.  I have been specifically asked to disseminate information regarding protests, programs, and support of this movement by #Blacklivesmatter.  To encourage education regarding the historic nature of Blacks in America.

I do so as a White American woman following their lead and because I believe #Blacklivesmatter without an ensuing . . .but so do . . .

Why the NFL Is Suddenly Standing Up for Black Lives

Four months ago, a week after the Super Bowl, the Undefeated—ESPN’s website dedicated to race, sports, and culture—posted a video of a conversation between former NFL receiver Victor Cruz, venerable sports columnist William C. Rhoden, and Houston Texans star Deshaun Watson, among others. The video was part of the Undefeated’s season-long media project titled “The Year of the Black QB,” and early in the clip, one of the panelists wondered aloud why current black NFL quarterbacks had not publicly offered support for Colin Kaepernick, who had been, and continues to be, exiled from the NFL ever since his now-iconic kneeling protest against police brutality.

So what does this mean for Kaepernick?

Well that remains to be seen:

It was a stunning turnaround for a league that had catered more to Donald Trump than its players during the 2017 kneeling protests, but let’s not confuse this sudden change of course with a sincere change of heart. The new stance comes from the very same place as the league’s previous prohibition of peaceful protests during the anthem: a morally bankrupt commitment to shifting with the winds of what its white fans find acceptable.

It’s worth remembering the NFL’s response in September 2017 after President Trump said he would “love” to see an owner remove from the field and fire any “son of a bitch” who chose to kneel during the national anthem. The first impulse of the NFL owners, many of whom had supported Trump’s campaign in 2016 and seven of whom had donated at least $1 million to him, was not to defend their players but to protect the league’s bottom line and not offend the president and his supporters.

But this specific incident is a not a white person’s coming out party, it is part of a black person’s daily lived experience.
