It wasn’t until I listened to the waking up with Sam Harris podcast that my anxiety level dropped, 6 times worse than the flu is a scary concept but it’s not the 4-10% that the numbers were reflecting. As to bully and shout down I don't think that was happening, I believe people were saying that your ideas were more far fetched based on the evidence of the mainstream media.
When you engage in an argument of opposing ideas the general consensus is you’re trying to engage with the people listening and not the opposing voice. The opposing voices is this case are both smart, adept at interpretation of data, and able to put forth hard to refute claims, all while minimising the direct personal attack.
My suggestion is get better arguments and become less reactionary on a personal attack basis and you may have a better time of it in the future. Take the arguments against your position as simply that and not a personal attack, hard when you invest intellectually and emotionally with your own position.
As tot his case of outbreak caution of both the virus and the government is a valid stance,
in my opinion violence is the ultimate source from which all rights and freedoms are derived and the monopoly of mandated violence is held by the state putting most people ina position that resistance on a cost benefit analysis is too high for the individual.
