I do it myself. They did produce some stats maybe two weeks ago that sat at about 3.5, but they were relying on dubious/politically sensors data, and it has gone up since then. I think the head of WHO gave the figure in one of his press speech’s also(?).
Italy’s numbers are running higher, to give perspective, based on good testing data, but also swung by an aging population.
(I’m running a second model trying to back-predict true number of cases based on reported cases, but have had to pick only one country to do that, to control the number of variables, as well as make some unproven assumptions about the illness itself....all very loose)
I'm baffled, totally. I mean why would Worldometer list 11% death rate if it's just 4%? It makes no sense; ergo, I feel I must be missing something. I have watched that percentage climb for weeks. The most in the last two days, from 8% - 11%. It's been crazy.
Anyway, bed, Nice seeing you back around, Hemi.

Copy that. Am holed up on my boat anchored off an island, so naturally figured I’d poke around the DU

I'm dyslexic, so language has always been a barrier that I've had to work hard to combat. I always think I can say, or should've said something better after I post and read it, which is why you see my posts edited umpteen times.
No way! I'm from a family of dyslexic people... my daughters being the most recent! I don't know if I am dyslexic but my right and left get mixed up so bad.... I failed my driving test. Haven't overcome that incident.... a leftie... to boot. Hannah is dyslexic.
I never would have guessed that about you!! Never. I learn something new every day. 💫💖

Samoa. Killed lots of people, mostly under 5’s. was rough. Lots of my crews are Samoan, and they are legend for their extended and very large families, so shit was super-sad. On the positive side it has make them hyper alert about this one. I have two guys stuck there right now as Samoa has closed her borders...working on diplomatic channels to get them on a flight. We’ve got people in 9 countries and 15 different islands all over the pacific and borders are closing flat out....I’m anchored in a bay with direct line of site to a cell tower to stay in comms while my people work through the demob logistics. We also have a lot of expensive (like $25k/day each for barges etc) gear on hire , so there is a very nuanced contractural situation to manage also....interesting times!
Goal one. Get people safe. Goal 2. Don’t bring transmit the disease ourselves. Goal 3. Don’t go fuckin’ broke!

The government has closed all the shops of the company I work for, and it is a very very large company. Luckily they have a huge online business. So out of work until, who knows, but being paid April's wage, that's all I know so far.
Stay safe everyone.

Food banks plead with UK supermarkets to set aside supplies amid coronavirus fallout
Trump throws tantrum over coronavirus question: 'You're a terrible reporter' ( I have tried to eschew the political nature of this virus; however, this video was an absolutely unwarranted reaction by the president of a nation. I wonder if it calmed the America people? )

Coronavirus Live Updates: Stay-at-Home Orders Spread as U.S. Death Toll Passes 200
One in five Americans will soon be required to stay indoors as New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Illinois join California in severely restricting residents’ movement.
Without bold action, U.S. could be overwhelmed, researchers say.

Jeepers, it took me like 15 minutes to catch up with the latest posts of this thread alone.

I don't understand this method of thinking. I truly don't. One fucking life matters, much less 237 or 22,000. One is no less painful for the family than the other! Downplaying Covid-19 to scared families out there whose loved ones are in critical condition, or worse—have passed away from it is cruel and insensitive, imho.
NO ONE in this thread is sensationalizing this virus. Most are presenting FACTS with LINKS to allow others to read and make their own minds up ( something I have to keep asking you to do ). So when someone comes in here and seems to be downplaying it by comparing it to the fucking flu. . .HELL to the no.
ONE DEATH MATTERS. Hell, one family lost THREE members—AFTER surviving the fucking flu their entire lives.
This is NEW. This is SCARY to a lot of people. What they NEED are FACTS. Not sensationalism or it's contrast, downplaying. I would LOVE to see you say what you just said about perspective to someone who has lost a loved one to this virus.
That's like me telling a mother who lost a twin that, well, you know, you have another one, many don't: perspective, right?
Right.
It's been an informative thread from the get-go, same as your punctuation thread.
While many a thread is simply a platform to promote a personal agenda or simply garner attention, it's fairly obvious after numerous pages that this thread isn't one of those.
More power to Ahavati in simply aggregating the information that is already out there in her spare moments.

Stay safe everyone.
I hate to hear that, Mags! Hopefully Wales is doing what companies here in the US are doing: suspending disconnects of power, phone, etc. as well as any late fees or penalties in regards to housing payments.

My company is still open but its been chaotic, rules have been changing by the day, at times by the hour. The city has implemented ordinance and i'm still seeing people with children everywhere. Just yesterday I saw a kid around 11 yrs old running around barefoot while the mom was shopping for clothes. wtf! the kid was breathless, coughing and the mom encouraged her to go do another lap.
Most of the grocery stores in my neighborhood are closed, the closest one is about 10 miles away, but some closer ones are only doing delivery or pickup.
Meanwhile our corp has told us we need to carry a piece of paper (in case we get stopped by the cops) that has our name, emp number and their signature, also some national link that verifies employment, to show that we are out driving to or from to tend work.
There was one confirmed death one town over, a 38yr old guy who had gone to florida 2 wks ago with his family and attended some amusement park, upon return it took about a week to show symptoms and he passed away couple days ago.
