Poetry Contest

i provide the title, you all write a poem inspired by it
Title:  revelations

Length: up to 30 lines <<<< as a preference. if your write goes over by a few lines it's not a problem, just not by a whole lot. thanks! with any of these competitions i host, the most important thing for me is the quality of the poems we write. not gonna junk a perfectly good one for being a few lines too long.

Style: any

you have one week to be inspirational. i'd like to be surprised where the title takes you. at the end of the week, i'll let you know which piece/s had me suspended, burning with revelations

non-entry

remember those bare wires?
the ones dangling
idiot-fashion
teasing me
"all you gotta do is reach out"

get yourself a little bolt from the blue
do
a Saul
get a little closer
to understanding Tesla

burn baby burn
dance
on St. Vitus toes

"let the power fill you!"
bible-belt commands from the heights of a ceiling
"all you gotta do is
reach out!
"

viper's tongue
copper-ends exposed in innocence
but i know
resist temptation
yet still my mouth fills with spit
the taste of old iron
as imagination suspends me
X-ray fashion
eyes burning with revelations

Revelations     (SP Summerscales)

Today the sky
moved a little closer
I can see through all
three eyes
like I'm supposed to.

My revelations
met by accusations
by hiding in plain sight
gas lights
lit the guilt
away some.

Fabrication
a selfish tune
by orchestration
each stave so untrue
a conduction
between wrong wavelengths .

The truth
was simply
knocking at the door
it was you
accusing me
of what you
were guilty for .

Revelations

I was one of the boys; Eureka shout;
It felt so right in thought when I found out.

A tomboy’s what they used to call me by,
Just as if I were a regular guy.

They never crowded, shouted bi or gay?
I didn’t need a special pass to stray.

It was much more than what they saw I wore,
Red flannel plaid, the toney shoes I had.

For on my sunny, youthful face: peach fuzz,
My boyish chest, that’s all there really was.

I want to say I liked the way
The girl next door would follow me
To college dorm and want to sit
And help me with homework a bit.

Got close to cuddle, she smelled good
The way I’d dreamt soft girl-skin would.

I got up, she went where I stood
And touched me there but I bowed out,

And said That’s not what I’m about,
I don’t have what you need for this.

She pressed and leaned in for a kiss
And reassured there’s no mistake,
“I’ll give as much as you can take.”

I closed my eyes to move aside
As inside my brain opened wide.

I felt the cold air rush the sun,
I could not end what I’d begun.

I thank you, no, I’m not a toy;
I won’t do it ‘cause I’m a boy.

Then came a day I hungout with my buds,
An in-y not an out-y to these bloods.

A sudden rush of hormones gone berserk,
I felt a jerk, I had to make it work,

And stepped behind a shady tree all coy.
I wish I had what they have, I’m a boy.

revelations

i said i loved you but i lied
you did not know that’s why i cried
by modest words disqualified
my iceberg base i tried to hide
my lyric lines were filled with vain profusions
i dared not bare my heart’s true revelations

i tried to kiss you but your pride
would not my forceful whims abide
too soon for strange lips to collide
or hearts so fragile to confide
and when i told you of my predilection
you said too soon for such blunt revelations

my genesis of hope resides
a thorn on eden’s mountainside
how soon might i be justified
by faith that cannot be denied
you said one day despite my taut confusion
you would to me bring sweeter revelations

i said i loved you but i lied
love serves not where pale words preside
but dwells—if truth be amplified—
in paradise where angels bide
from genesis through all life’s generations
love’s exodus seeks heaven’s revelations

Revelations

Read the epitaph
before the birth
we're written
in a spell that's cast
upon a viral Earth .

Leather feathers and bird leaves
halo weather,mad cow disease
humans faltered as Earth recedes
plastic castings of trickery
the face , the mask's
all they see .

Revelations of allied nations
Kingdom's rising
regaining elevation
empirically tested
with more invested interest
in our damnation ,we're living totalitarian

A wild stampede
all substrates in need
all known seeds
are buried under lands of green
they think it won't be known
if it ,can't be seen
so when the show really blows
they can start clean.

Numerical in digits
via portals near missed hits
feared land-fills
prophets get blitzed
they want to stamp us
with triple six.
