May I enquire as it is not stipulated...

1) Is being a DU poet a requirement or can this offering be to any poet?
2) Are old writes acceptable or do you require new ones?

Thank you for your awesome competition idea.

The poets/poetesses can either be from DUP or world-wide famous. The work can either be new or old.

Thanks for your interest!

Dedication Poeticus .

One For Him.

The wireless toots a concoction
of symphonic abortion, through
a four Ohm mid-range loudspeaker
you sit there mining
through scraps of paper and board
remembering your phonetics
to tweak her

Bashfully dripping the last drop
of cheap scotch down your throat
in the hope it'll tidy the red pop
in your eyes, when it reminds you
what you wanted to write yesterday
or last night or the early morning

The haze of second hand cigarette smoke
is but an illusion of a burning mind
truth be told
it's hardly a poetic joke
All you needed was to walk the damn dog
there you would find
some lass, you could use
new words for
prove you were a god.

And One For Her.

arched backs
beautiful feet
and perfect courage
delivered
like three blind mice
and
you'll be the butchers wife

smash the roller out the ball
and inscribe your
torrent deep
in the denial of
who you are
and the strength
of just one ego
truer than the rest

I wouldn't need to
tattoo my emotions
across the cover
of my book. But for you
just this once
in this psychopathic moment
I will[.]

I did repeatedly
write every fantasy
about you
your talent
and misgivings
but I collared them

unpublished.

-x-

For Jessica

Existing in minds, the poets imagery
gentle flow the images divine
of twinkling stars and chimes
in the proclamation of arrival
as the figure sublime
dressed in gossamer gown
and a knight’s armour
swept in with a warrior’s stride
lights of silver through white gauzy gowns
full of loving and love
the heralds’ trumpets sounded

sounds of hollow bamboo
full blown by soft lips
ululating melody
reaching for the snow-capped mountains
reedy sounds divine
woke the warrior’s slumber
smiles blushes and kisses
touches soft and fluttery…
distant sounds of fisher folks
mingled with soft sighs
as ecstasy supreme were reached

Walking through rose-scented gardens
striding over famine wracked lands
riding on horseback through the western plains
swimming naked in blue lagoons
picking shells at an isolated beach
making love under foreign white skies
green grassy land of before
holding hands under flower laden trees
picking a sakura from the garden
These imageries and more remind me of you
My Jessica

Madam Fortune-teller

Smouldering eyes look deep within
Hearts of loving kindness
Or of hatred deadly poison
Close your eyes
If you have secrets
For everything escapes
Through the window to your soul
Or sleeps within

She is a fortune teller, a seer
She looks into a crystal ball
And see your past
Look at your future
If you are not careful
And think she is a fool
You will suffer misfortune
Like stumbling into the ditch

She is no witch
She is as beautiful as she can be
Her pinkish red and brown hair
Makes her look so fair
Her blue glittery fingernails
Will make you stare
Her lips coloured sheer coral
Look ready for a kiss

She is gowned in black satin
All frilly at the end
The burst of colours
On her sequinned head band
Holds her coloured hair in
If you are a man
You want to run your hands through it
Women want to shear it

So come one come all
Get your palms read by the gypsy queen
All colourful in black satin
Her eyes rounded with black kohl
Her nimble fingers touching the crystal ball
Will fascinate you most of all
Before she tells your fortune
What your future holds

Please leave your donation at the door
Make it generous, a hundred will do

*Ps. Kitty, lets make that fortune.*

Ode To The Unknown Poet

The Unknown Poet , Name Not Blessed Nor Cursed

As No One Ever Knew Who Wrote Those Words And Verse

Who Wove A Web And A Spell , Of A Heaven Or A Hell

And How That Felt , Art To Melt The Hearts , Do Tell

Or Just Of Life Lived With A Poem Penned Until The End

Or Some Love Letter In Passion's Rhyme Did They Send

Or To Change A Social Injustice They Did For The Rest Of Us

Just Rockin' And Rollin' Like Some Determined Sysiphus

Or To Speak Phrases , Blind Mind Mazes In Their Defense

When Something In Their Consciousness Did Not Make Sense

Or To Bring Laughter , Ever After , And Odd Mirth To Our Lips

This Is My Ode To That Unknown Poet , Blessed By Muse's Kiss !

He Always Thanks Me When I Come

( an erotic double Sonnet )

In all my years I never knew a one
Of man or boy that fell in love with me,
Who was polite when after sex was done,
To grateful show how good the act can be.

And then I met a man of po’em bent
With virtue for the formula of rhyme.
‘Twas on a Friday on the Internet,
Who showed the art of love, Bob Dylan-time.

But how he did, it titillated one;
It was distracting what he did with words.
For cyber-scening he would use his tongue,
O! What it did and what it would prefer.

I could stay home and read a book instead
(I’ve life-long strived on being better read).

While early on when we were single-O,
I’d listen long to learn about his kink.
He thought I should be free to let him go,
In case I felt the need to change up ink.

But life for us proved quite an endless dare
Including learning what each knew of love.
For art of writing is a forte shared,
The ways of which a lover long dreams of.

And when I’m there I never need it said,
He’ll lie between & tongue the wetness deep.
He always thanks me when I come in bed,
To gentle nod, and mumble in his sleep.

I whisper soft, ‘I should do that to you’.
Of course I will, then I’ll be thankful, too.

Jaded Collaborations

(a long pantoum)

For poets, mouths regard as needed things,
Like ships that stand at harbor’s ports await.
From sheets we stain with gifted wonderings,
Our mouths give resonance, our treasures state.

Like ships that stand at harbor’s ports await
Full holds of diamonds, pearls and finest Jade.
Our mouths give resonance, our treasures’ state
That hold our spills, our seven wonders laid.

Full holds of diamonds, pearls, and finest Jade,
We shine and sparkle, stars in winter night
That hold our spills, our seven wonders laid,
With open mouths release our held insight.

We shine and sparkle, stars in winter night,
But now I seek reside of closer place.
With open mouths release our held insight,
Such lips and tongue let all fair words erase.

But now I seek reside of closer place,
Where mouths can serve a deeper purpose still.
Such lips and tongue let all fair words erase,
To find both mouths delight in other spill.

Where mouths can serve a deeper purpose still,
My tongue’s pursuit to read your every line,
To find both mouths delight in other spill,
That deeper would my penetrate define.

My tongue’s pursuit to read your every line,
With yours to master mine, as loves present.
That deeper would my penetrate define
In you, that space our revelries fervent.

With yours to master mine, as love’s present
Within our joinings such imbibes partake.
In you, that space, our revelry’s fervent
Brought offerings dispel in common take.

Within our joinings, such imbibes partake.
As common mouths uncommon flows combine,
Brought offerings, dispel in common take
A rise and ebb, exists beyond design.

As common mouths uncommon flows combine,
From sheets we stain with gifted wonderings,
A rise and ebb, exists beyond design,
For poets’ mouths regard as needed things.

To The Poets on DUP

Reading their words from afar… they do not know it,
But I wish and long to be inside of their head or world.
What is it that makes you write? The way that you fit
The words so perfectly together like they are curled
Around every wisp of smoke and the spark that ignites
A fire. They help me feel less alone in a big world that
Sometimes feels cold. The way they help all the nights
Become brighter and less dark. They are like the flat
And forlorn dreams that become more possible after
Being forgotten about for a long time. Names that are
Like friends and friends. There is much needed laughter.
You make look to the sky for guidance like the North Star.

Dead Poet, Society?

In the quarter moon
an entire
bookshelf
lies
lost

Dormant
space
in cyber-village

In appreciation for ten years of
solid
reading
-gold

I present
Journal Entry 1018

Clouds
burst
darkness
no
silver linings
golden ends
or
treasures
sparkling
rainbows

Christ spare
a moment
to apreciate
a nomad
warrior
(they call it
mobile living)

It's spacious
warm
with
campfire-stories

Untill she fills the
driving
seat
well, then
[and only then]
it drives
like
a Twincam
with a
Free-flow
screaming
Fuck You
to the
wind

smacking
hold down
in
the
corner
flooring
steel
to the
metal
slicing tar
enroute
a bar,
jukebox
and
closing time

Slapping
handbreak
- a 180
middle
finger
at
society;
because
see

FUCK YOU
and ME!

We took
commercialized
gang-raped
the
essence
of that
damn
park
[we drove through]
When the
table
trashed
the
goddamn
windscreen
while
the woman
owned
Kings
daughter's
clowns
and
courts
:
;
.

And the morning
saw no -
mourning?
