Poetry Contest Description
Share romantic poems.
"[Romance is] a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love. . . . love, especially when sentimental or idealized."- Google.
I might not consider poems without the theme #romantic. Poems will be commented on. If you want comments, then put your poem webpage's full url link (or just the 6 digits that are within that url) at the bottom of your posts.
Submit any poem, even if it was written beforehand, commented on by me or in a previous contest. submit 3 poems maximum, but no duplicate entries. Don't add or edit posts, after the contest has closed. Your poem can't solely be an image, audio, or video; but must have some accessible text that wholly represents it.
Also, you can post url links to other DUPoetry romance competitions.
Message me with any concern, including of integrity or of rule violations.
Here's some inspiration from last competition:
Lyrically_Inclined said:Your Essence
I can still smell your essence
Feel your presence
Taste your effervescent taste on my face
Love that makes me love
The way I love
When we make love
I want to feel that way again right now
I want to be totally enraptured by the feeling
And capture the feeling
In something more than a memory
Something more like a state
Or a zone
Where I’m always at home
In the constant rapture of love
Like us becoming one
In a continuous orgasmic flow that never stops
Or drops off from climactic mountain tops
Like the precise point of conception
Of a love child
Which both of us wants to share in
The beautiful creation of life
The ultimate gift
That point that sets your mind adrift
And your soul takes over
Your mind no longer has to think
You no longer have to know
All I want to do is lose myself in the moment
Lose myself in your sweet essence

I’ve been lost in the reverie of you for years,
There were times when I fused it with reality,
And in the middle of these two hemispheres,
You brought an ideal balance to my duality.
I’ve gone deep into the realm in your eyes,
Like the idyllic paradise of time and space,
Where the longing and yearning never dies,
But rises to the top whenever I see your face.
I’ve delved into the depths of your warm smile,
While my conscious stayed numb on the surface,
In teeming dreams of unseen schemes beguiled,
As if each and every one of them has a purpose.
I’ve been entranced in a daze of a wistful romance,
Longing with such an intense and silent devotion,
That the passion can trek across the great expanse,
And still only be but a tiny drop in the ocean.
I’ve been love-struck ever since the very beginning,
It’s hard to describe the emotion that I proclaim,
But I try my best to express the irresistible feeling,
Because you have me whenever you call my name.
IcarusVStheSun said:Burning Romance
I told you I was dangerous,
my hands meant for destruction,
my temper as violent as an inferno,
you didn't seem to care,
you just held my hand,
and whisper in my ear,
"You're the reason why I love fire."

Nicotine Love
Got a picture of you in my phone.
I'm not gonna scroll it down.
I'm not gonna change.
Staring at the eyes of your face;
Those saying thousand of dreams.
Having a pinch of nicotine,
1.5% is not enough.
I swear this is my last;
Leaving the drawing,
Heading to the balcony.
So many stars twinkling out there!
Laughing & missing with me.
Got a earphone in my ear.
Playing sweet unknown.
Smokes flying through the cloud!
Hiding the moon inside.
Feeling frozen; but nothing to warm me up.
I'll overcome every obstacles for you.
I won't stop loving.
I swear on you.
Got two bottles of champagne,
Still waiting for your toast.
I will wait for you.
I swear on this nicotine tonight.
I'm not gonna scroll it down.
I'm not gonna change.

I was creating a thread for all your romance works, but I think the admin deleted the thread.
I'm sorry, everyone. Romance is an amazing feeling that every reader should have the opportunity and right to experience. I might gather your poems under another website and link that website here. You've all produced more than 100 great romance works, and it only seems fair to make sure that some virtual not-for-profit anthology exists which credits each and every one of you.
Regardless, I'll still be rereading all of those amazing romance pieces in private, now and then.

ETHEREAL LOVE
Where is my lover?
where is she from?
what is she really like
at home and away?
if asked about her
what would her true friends say?
What does she think
in her rare quiet times?
how does she act
when mad, happy or sad?
what is the tone, rhythm and pitch
of her voice when she speaks
when she laughs
or in passion’s heat?
What is her scent?
how does she taste?
are her lips as succulent
her curves as voluptuous
and her milky skin as smooth
as her picture portrays?
Could I ever be the lover
she describes in her poetry?
would my kisses excite her?
would her breasts
respond to my touch
my nibbles my suck?
would her temperature rise?
would she become wet
with my licks, my kisses?
would my round peg
fill up her round holes?
All of these questions
my imagination has answered
but we live in a real world
with real time, real distance
and real problems to solve
in the present I am a real friend
a real confidant
a real source of humor
the laughing together kind
Though our lips may never press
or our bodies never join
our minds embrace
our thoughts permeate each other’s soul
what can be more sensual than that?

Appreciation
"You know I love you right,"
He Said while holding her hand.
"Baby, it's the little things; the way you walk and talk with such enthusiasm. How you thrive to do things with perfection. The way you set the bar so high for yourself. It's all incredible to me."
"Christopher," In a quiet subtle voice.
"You are the man I want to marry. Yes, we are young but no one on this earth can tell me this isn't real. God brought this together."
"I don't know what I would do if I lost you," He stresses
"And you won't," she says.
"I'm not going anywhere."
Looking into her eyes, Christopher takes it a step further. Though he was not the one who fell first, he wants his woman to be confident in his love. You see he's in it for the long haul through the ups and downs. Determined to give her something different. Something she can look back on and smile at the simple fact that she has a man who truly loves her.
"Promise?"
"I Promise."
The lovers end the night with a promise; A promise of endless love and passion. Kissing and cuddling the night away for the morning brings a new day.
The Beginning, Middle, and End.

What Love Has Taught Me
Love has taught me how to kiss.
How to hold her and wrap my legs around her
and kiss her until my cheeks are as pink as her old bed sheets.
Love has taught me how to fight,
to yell, to scream, to bleed,
and to love and love and love again.
And love taught me how to mend,
to stitch together the ripped seams,
with a sharp needle and trembling fingers,
with messy stitches that are bound to unravel anyway.
But love taught me to at least try.
Try to fix it.
Try to fix her.
And if it fails,
you keep trying until your fingers bleed
from pricking your finger so many times.
When I fell in love,
I learned to sleep on the left side of the bed
because the right side was hers.
She liked it because it was directly under the vent
and that gave her a reason to wrap her arms tighter around my body.
Falling in love is a lot like learning to ride a bike,
once you learn you can never really forget
but sometimes that’s all I want to do.
I’d rather have scraped elbows and bleeding knees from falling off so many times
than this feeling I’m feeling right now.
I know how to ride a bike the same way I know
how you like your coffee and what to say to make you stop crying.
Love taught me terror.
I’ve never been a fan of scary movies
but I never realized I was living in one.
Every night on the phone,
you’re haunting silence lingering in the space
where your love used to be.
The way your beautiful ex-girlfriend’s mouth looks so pretty
when she says your name.
I’m used to way I shake when I see you smile at her
the way you used to at me.
I’m accustomed to feeling I get when I realize
you’re no longer the same.
I’ve memorized that feeling.
Love has taught me that nothing lasts forever.
How to hold her and wrap my legs around her
and kiss her until my cheeks are as pink as her old bed sheets.

The last thing I need is another Love Poem
You are already so soft to me, not like anyone I’ve had before. And a gentle flowered turn of phrase {I love you} would feel more like defeat than anything else. I’ve lost too many wars with my own feelings, I don’t want this to be one, so I’m trying so hard to not want you this way or at least not this badly. And the trouble with me and love poems is I’ve written so many about the ones who loved me badly, I wouldn’t even know where to begin about someone who might actually do it right. Honestly the truth is I’m afraid that you’ll be just another person who got bored once the novelty wore off. Because I know I’m better in theory - more alluring in the abstract. I’m scared you’ll become just one of the almost-lovers that I can’t stop writing poetry for. I don’t want to write a love poem about you because then it’s all over. The point of no return. And I know better than to play jump rope with my heartstrings. If I write a love poem then I’ll show all my cards and then we’ll both know I’ve been bluffing. And if I write it down there will be documentation of yet another time I put my heart where my mouth is and made a fool of myself. I don’t want you to see me like that. I don’t you to see me like I see myself. Because the truth is, I’m having trouble believing someone like you ever looked at me in the first place. I have been trained to wear my body like a sad apology because I’m still unlearning self loathing. It’s easy to believe in myself when I’m not in the headlights of some beautiful boy from up north but I expect you to find everything wrong with me. Even though I keep hoping that you won’t. The last thing I need to do is write a love poem because I’m already in too deep without one.

"Truth"
Claim to be surprised,
act like this shit is all surprise.
Give me that look ,when I’m not surprised,
It must have worked, had other’s surprised
not for me lies won’t surprise.
I saw right through you, and your lies,
incoherent, (I) must be deaf, such a lie.
Tell an ass he is half horse in lies;
“Down the canyon, it won’t be far.” Truthful lies:
As you said, “Trust in me, I don’t lie.”
Caught your lies, to your surprise;
excused to my surprise; caught again in more lies.
How corrosive your lies, prove me wrong in surprise;
no longer surprise, more lies:
No more lies, caught again, no surprise.
act like this shit is all surprise.
Give me that look ,when I’m not surprised,

kissing in the sun lit rain
Starving on this island
Intense longing for our souls entwined
Wishing your body was not only in my mind
A distance from you, I just can no longer bear
Into the sunset that draws you to me, I will stare
Moving all mountain, water and sky in my way
Only the space between us is now in play
A way to now find, my soul must relay
My passion's pathway
To your wet kiss...
Intense longing for our souls entwined
Wishing your body was not only in my mind
A distance from you, I just can no longer bear
Into the sunset that draws you to me, I will stare
Moving all mountain, water and sky in my way

Scratched Vinyl
A heart like a scratched record
Intro with sublime falsetto
Holy choirs blazing glory
sets my soul into a flurry
but
As the priceless vinyl skips
My lurching gut takes a dip
brass instruments slipping into night
bold Percussion fades into abyss
but
scrubbing grime and filth
expunging dust and cobwebs
A menagerie of chemicals
Google searches and YouTube tutorials
anxious nights and gnawed fingernails
Waterworks to rival Niagara Falls
but
Ceaseless grinding
expands deterioration
The timeless record
hyped by critics
adored by the masses
will never grace these ears
And I'm a...
Sub-human abombination
Born to righteous indignation
Like a subterranean mole
never beholds the beauty of light

The Witches Kiss
tender labium
velvety and exquisite
illusory purity breeds enticement
borrowed sensations are ripe
the shallow pools of her pupils so mesmerizing
Trapped my heart within her wretched curse
Her sorcerers black magic
Lips taste like ash and dirt
Now I'm caged in her embrace
I crave that juicy box in my mind
Yet not within my corporeal nerves
She strips my soul, it violates my core
She vanishes like a ghoul in the dust
burglarizing literal and metaphysical property
my trust, communication device, my heart, my bank account
forsaking nothing but my fruitless desire
My agonizing futility
to gaze upon her silky face once more
One or two years drift by
Like an Eagle soaring high
The backdraft in my gut has petered
My passion, my anger defused
Trees into sticks, dirt into mud
Like the Wizard of Oz
She is nothing but a witch doused in water
Albeit, H20 is substituted with an element far more potent
Apathy
A weapon more powerful than Excalibur
Lifting the enchantment placed upon my conscious
Dismantling the curse of the witches kiss.
One and for all
Forever and ever

I'm sorry, everyone. Romance is an amazing feeling that every reader should have the opportunity and right to experience. I might gather your poems under another website and link that website here. You've all produced more than 100 great romance works, and it only seems fair to make sure that some virtual not-for-profit anthology exists which credits each and every one of you.
Regardless, I'll still be rereading all of those amazing romance pieces in private, now and then.
That's a fine idea, provided you have permission from those poets to make digital copies of their poems that they won't be able to erase without your help.

love story 01
a teen story…
I met you at the ice rink
that summer
ending high-school semesters
later than the team
we trained together
alone
while others
summer camped
somewhere
I fell in love with that short hair
of yours
revealing what I thought was
the most beautiful neck
I never told you that
we ran
we talked
we watched movies
it took months
before I draw you pictures
and wrote that letter
being open ‘bout my feelings
I got to know
what’s like
to get in the friend-zone
playing cavalier
for years
with the girl that inspired me
never got
good enough for you
…mid-twenties
out of the blue
you wrote me about the guy
who was about to merry you
how strange I thought
now
in our thirties…
you have two sons
I have a daughter
when we meet
we exchange parenting advice
and share fitness experience
as sports and skating
still play important role in our lives

love story 02
last year of high-school…
I was into math
you were into biology
4 years in high
without noticing each other
until I met your staring glance
on my way out of the bus
on a hot November evening
…it really felt hot
when I stepped out
regardless of the coming winter
from then on
I stared and stared
whenever my hopes were met
of crossing you in the hallway
I never spoked at you
not even once
learning your full name
at the graduation ceremony
…in June
years passed
maybe ten
maybe more
watching scott pilgrim vs. the world
awoke memories so hidden
I didn’t realise of having them
I sent you friend request
on facebook…
you never accept my delay
I deleted the request
after three years of waiting
…and still remember your full name
I was into math
you were into biology
4 years in high
without noticing each other
until I met your staring glance
on my way out of the bus
on a hot November evening
…it really felt hot
when I stepped out
regardless of the coming winter
from then on
I stared and stared
whenever my hopes were met
of crossing you in the hallway
I never spoked at you
not even once
learning your full name
at the graduation ceremony
…in June
years passed
maybe ten
maybe more
watching scott pilgrim vs. the world
awoke memories so hidden
I didn’t realise of having them
I sent you friend request
on facebook…
you never accept my delay
I deleted the request
after three years of waiting
…and still remember your full name
