My First Northern Winter
(SOMEONE SAVE ME, I MISS FLORIDA!!!)

The pipes keep freezing,
Our propane tank is empty,
No furnace for heat.

We have a wood stove,
A fireplace to help with warmth,
Plenty of wood, too

Even with all that,
It is still too cold for me,
I can't feel my toes!!

Yet I stick it out,
Just a couple more months left,
And spring will be here!!

So for now I sit,
Snug in my heated blanket,
Dreaming of sunshine.

Winter Whisper

The cold winter gale
Rushes by me with its tale
A sad mournful wail

I guess you call it winter

Back East they envy
We're known as the Sunshine state
Winter is a myth

Tall barren trees
Acres of rattling lawns
Unforgiving icy wind
Our winter's finally come

The Rain

The winter sun rises late,
The days are short, nights are cold,
Whispering of the approaching storm.

Then the rain falls on me,
Like a blessing from the heavens,
Because I had no umbrella.

Now that I’ve been bathed,
By the winter storm and it’s rage,
I feel a cold coming.
