A grandiose new year resolution that did not succeed the previous year
Write about a new year resolution in the past that was never achieved; what was the circumstances that contributed to the failure and how do you hope to achieve it in the new year. It could be your own experience, someone you know or a friend's friend.

A Resolution Past
thoughts and wishes
needs and wants
plagued my thoughts
of many new years
i planned to do this and that
to achieve to produce
to do, to lose some weight
to put my talents to many use
and then other thoughts
blocked my way
I need to do that
and let that get away
my resolutions can be kept
for next year to achieve
this time for real
nothing will stand before me.

Resolution - Your Happiness First
Why can’t you be happy? Maybe you are trying
Too hard for perfection that cannot always be
Reached. A look in the mirror and you are crying
For the girl inside of you because what you see
Right before your eyes is not the same person
You are truly becoming. Maybe you should stop
Believing your insecurities before they worsen
And shape into something you cannot drop
Off at the baggage claim anymore. Maybe what
You grow is more important than the weeds
And things that did not grow. Let the voice shut
Down the doubt. Embrace your prayer beads
Within your palm and hanging around your neck.
Save yourself and pick yourself up from the wreck.
Too hard for perfection that cannot always be

Revise and Edit
I wrote a book in 2012,
Then a follow up in 2015,
And thought I struggled to revise them,
I have an outline for third in 2018.
But I can never seem to find the time,
Or better yet, find the discipline,
To work my plan to revise and edit,
And then be able to take the credit.
I can’t call myself a published author,
When the pages are hidden and tucked away,
When the characters I created call my name,
To finish it up and then make the claim.
There have been days when I sat there,
Rereading the first few chapters of the book,
Written while I was inspired,
To deliver something that had quite the hook.
But I think I was in a state of rapture,
I thought had captured lightning,
Now that I’m a little older I come to realize,
Publishing your book can be quite frightening.
Maybe it’s my lack of confidence,
Or maybe I’m just plain procrastinator,
But if I really want to achieve my goal,
I have to aspire to be greater.
So come December 31st,
Just like I’ve done all those years past,
I’ll write down my targets and objectives,
Then read them every day and ask…
What am I doing today
That’s getting me closer to that goal?

What is the purpose
What is peanut butter without no jelly taste like, how its go down? not very easy you have to drink a half gallon of liquids please believe me, What is love without no show, what is a hood without no ho, these fuck boys started a group called trained to go, I'm trying to love you but what is the purpose baby girl if its going in one ear and out another, i feel I'm wasting my breath its like I'm talking to zombies in other words I'm talking to death, tell me what is purpose of receiving and not giving plus what is the point of deceiving instead of being honest, what is the purpose of telling the truth if you going to tell a lie, tell me some what is the purpose of letting your life past by like a plane in the sky, telling the lord i don't really won't to die young, what is the purpose of a big school if you is not going to go to it, What is the purpose of a community college if you don't want to attend, You should be happy going to school and getting your degree at the end, the way this world is now you need to get something, because these young boys talking stupid saying they trap is jumping, what is the purpose of living wrong go take your little ass home, be glad you get to see another day God is going to make a way, What is the purpose of leaving me for another guy because he got more than I'll do, i still can't believe that i lost you, what is the purpose of loving someone else but you are showing different, HEY, just spit in my face and just call it a day, BE things is not going to change, you is changing on me but i never did shit to you, the ones you need do harm is the ones that left you or the ones that did you wrong, tell me what is the purpose of me still being there and saying that i love you BUT at the end of the day you going to act like i did you wrong, What is the purpose of loving you when you are wrong, for better or for worse, through thick and THIN, when I'm down not when I'm up, tell me what is the purpose.
