SPRING
Avian return migration
Arbor buds and germination
The vernal equinox
Has inspired the pink phlox
How about you and me
Get naked and plant some seeds?

Spring in Bloom
Winter chills over and done
A new harvest has begun
Soft and gentle afternoon showers
Resurrecting seasonal flowers
Daffodils and tulips bloom
Windows open in my room
Leaves returning to the trees
Smelling spring upon the breeze
Honeysuckle scents fill the air
Yellow rapeseed bright with flare
Early hours, birds lively
Longer days, finally
Warmth of sun upon my face
Resting in my garden space
Nature offering a release
Providing solace and a peace
Inspired by The joys of spring competition

Despite the Geoengineering
The biggest thugs are
crows and slugs
stealing sprouts as they appear
it's a double planting again this year
seedlings in their infant pots
waiting out the last frost
writing names on labels
purple carrots and German tomatoes
drinking smoothies in the sunshine
soaking up the glorious vitamins
a breeze blowing through open windows
laundry smelling of scented meadows
spontaneous picnics and plenty of fishing
stargazing grateful for good springtime living

... All Shall Be Green
Soon will come the morning showers
To spark off the dawn of blooming flowers
The ground will be wet and life shall sprout
As mother earth opens her mouth
To quench her thirst with waters from above
The liquid expression of the Creator's love
Through the landscapes beauty will be seen
Nothing dry or grey for all shall be green
Soon will come the morning showers
To spark off the dawn of blooming flowers
The ground will be wet and life shall sprout
As mother earth opens her mouth
To quench her thirst with waters from above
The liquid expression of the Creator's love
Through the landscapes beauty will be seen
Nothing dry or grey for all shall be green

... Maddi wants to fly
My Maddi asked, Papi how high can I fly
As we watched clouds swimming in the sly
You might fly like a honey bee kissing a flower
Taking the nectar to build a golden tower
You might be a butterfly doing loop de loops
Teasing smiling old ladies siting on their stoops
You might fly backwards like an emerald humming bird
Your magical wings the only thing that's heard
Maybe you hop from tree to tree like a cardinal or a lark
Singing new songs for babies in strollers all about the park
Maybe you'll be a pigeon warbling in your grey flannel suit
Cooing for the old man who brings breadcrumbs as loot
So jump in the swing and lets start your first flight
Just lean back and kick your legs with all your might

Springtime
After the rain has fallen, in the spring I find myself yearning,
Like the leaves that once left I feel something else returning.
The air is crisp and clean as the wind makes the skies so blue,
The rivers are flowing showing the long drought is through.
The birds are singing showing signs that new life is in the air,
As if hope has risen after the long months of winter’s despair.
In the new season there is reason to rejoice and to celebrate,
It certainly brings the delights and joys you find with a mate.
But in springtime there always something in the breeze,
And though I love most of it, I don't love these allergies.

when I hear the sweet voice of yours
the spring paints a new green to the trees
bringing the cure to my cold sores
carrying a warmth to the cold breeze

carrying a warmth to the cold breeze

Tiger Spring
I, tiger, pad my way in search of Spring
As silver notes from breath through tree limbs sing,
Its offering the gentle mist of green
To enter in the cage of Bengal queen.
This time of year brings feelings of rebirth,
The thick sense of one's body from the earth,
To welcome sirens of hormonal song
And turnings of my yearn the whole night long.
The constant circle of a lashing tail,
The rise and pitch to advertise her grail.
My tiger paces, growling timbres' thrum
In hopes the He knows where the voice comes from.
But when the sun is high I'll make my leap
To race and follow tracks of suitor deep,
And through a cloud of butterflies & bloom
To meet up and begin our honeymoon.

Well done all contributers. Very difficult to judge. I was probably biased in favour of the winner as I am a keen gardener. Almost everyone else deserved to be a runner up.

wow, totally unexpected!

So many worthy entries, I am flattered.
