Another rock to mine
With nary a dime in my pocket
I set out for a less painful wreck
With May’s mother’s mother’s locket
Around the sun burned ring on my neck
I saw there’s work across the river
Digging trenches by the freight train yard
May’s dreams always brought me a shiver
And I knew staying here would be hard
Chorus
So I hunt another rock to mine
But it’s not diamonds, silver or gold
There’s a glow in the dark that I pine
For and hope she’ll be my love to hold
Elements faded carnival sign
On what’s left of a lightning struck tree
Beggars and bruisers forming a line
Stretching as far as the eye can see
I spot the smile of a red haired lass
In a cantina pushing a mop
I knew not much time would dare go pass
Till we left running for the pawn shop
Repeat Chorus

Hey Buck! There is no need to be a talented singer! I am hoping this comp inspires some poets to look into performing their poetry. it is one thing to have someone read what you have written, but it is completely different when the author presents the writing. I think it is far more effective to communicate ideas and emotion. You can read a poem to music, what ever you like but i encourage you to give it a shot! if you need help getting set up to record i can help you in that area!!!

(By the way I'm a bit of a multi instrumentalist and like to record stuff, so if anybody needs any help with anything music / techy related I will gladly help out anybody in the spirit of this comp 👍🏻)
