Evolution In Resolution
(Inspired by Hoag's Object; taken by Hubble Telescope)
Evolution of the body
Revolution of the mind
Look for heaven above the stars
Seek and ye shall find
There is more that we don’t know
Then we’ve already established
So maybe God can be explained
In terms of quantum physics
Focus on a single star
Consider the source of this light
An realize the beautiful mysteries
That shines in the sky at night
Evolution of the body
Revolution of the mind
Look for heaven above the stars
Seek and ye shall find
There is more that we don’t know
Then we’ve already established
So maybe God can be explained
In terms of quantum physics
Focus on a single star
Consider the source of this light
An realize the beautiful mysteries
That shines in the sky at night

APPARITION
If you awake to find an apparition at the end of your bed
Do not fear
No need to dread
What you see is not a Ghost come to haunt you
But a Guardian Angel to watch over you
Shut your eyes
Go back to sleep
And dream dreams
Peaceful and sweet
Do not fear
No need to dread
What you see is not a Ghost come to haunt you
But a Guardian Angel to watch over you
Shut your eyes
Go back to sleep
And dream dreams
Peaceful and sweet

A Child's Prayer
A battle rages deep into the night
a mother and father
their words biting and tearing
a demon's delight.
From the back of the house
a tiny voice calls
"please Father come save us
before the devil swallows us whole."
Her prayer flies to the heavens
at the speed of light
Michael and the angels are coming
swords drawn, they are ready for a fight.
"Rest now little one
you Father is near
no more demons
or angry words need you fear."

The heavens
Left in the darkness of the world to fend for my sanity the crows picked at my flesh.
" oh lord hear me"
Mumbling prayers recitiding scriptures from the bible my heart prayed aloud my skin tingled as the grass folded under my frame. The sun pierced my eyes and sweat flooded my face, lips chapped, tooth chipped and tongue busted...I replay the accident slipping slowly into unconsciousness a small voice like breeze that cooled the earth and leaves on the trees
" hold on"
I managed to fight the sleep...it darkened now leaving the stars and moon as lights as I took the last breath and managed to scream
" LORD! Have mercy on me" tears flowed to my ears unto the dirt...I became breathless, my breathing became slow...steady...short eyes became heavy and shut I felt my body became cold and ridged...
I felt a peaceful light hovering over me as angels with harps mellowing my soul. My body which was lifeless and cold floated lightly.
It was all white cloud like as he stood before me and said " my child I heard your crys felt your pain so I rescued you...I will always be with you" he started to disappear as I drifted away from him my eyes closed.
As I opened my eyes I looked around I noticed my wife and my son sitting by my bedside praying and as I sat up they rejoiced crys with praises to god.
All I know is I will never be the same.

I've consulted some of my photog friends to help judge the images. In the image category Devlin and Gyppie, and Stagger Lee scored a 9. I consulted with one of my mentors on the poetry and Devlin, Whale, and Gyppie scored a 9. Devlin and Gyppie are tied for first (if I can award two trophies I will). Whale is second and Stagger third.
Devlin = 18 - tied for first
Gyppie = 18 - tied for first
Whale = 17 - second
Stagger = 16 - third
EDIT: I'm getting the Mistress to add Isgyppie's trophy as there wasn't an option for me to award two winners! Hold tight, gyppie!
Devlin = 18 - tied for first
Gyppie = 18 - tied for first
Whale = 17 - second
Stagger = 16 - third

So for the last few days
I’ve been “In” and “Out” of DU
faster than you can shake a stick at.
And for the last few days
I’ve been trying to find the right words
to express my appreciation for receiving this Trophy
and so far I’ve been blank.
So now I’m just going to say the first things on my mind.
Though, I found this comp to be a rather strenuous one because for:
1. I’m NOT a Poet of Spirituality.
2. I’m DARKNESS (like Lego BatMan – Great Movie btw!)
3. AND what I poem is, and again, DARK & Bullshit.
So, to have ventured out of my “Darkness” and into the “Spiritual”
was quite a challenge for me.
And rather than come in here and say “Thanks!” and leave I felt more
was needed to be said.
First off, I would like to Thank Miss Ahavati for Hosting such a challenging comp
because it allowed me to tap into something quite foreign to me …
so THANK YOU, Lady Ahavati.
Secondly, I have this thing with sexy rugged men smoking cigarettes.
There’s just something about a sexy mouth and make-out lips wrapped around
a cigarette that really gets me going, and I think now is the time to stop
before I’m forced to change my panties!
So the cigarette smoking thing came to mind …
and there goes my thoughts again back to a sexy man smoking cigarettes!
UGH! Gotta focus … Damn you Marlboros!!!!
Okay, to those who Voted.
And I really don’t know who you are, but I do wish to Thank You
from the bottom of my poetic heart.
I know my poem was up against some great ones,
and to have taken the Trophy is truly an Honor
and I can’t express that enough … so again, Thank You to the Voters.
And Gyppie … Well, I don’t know you but I know you’ve been around
so my poetic pen is off to you for your poem AND for sharing the limelight with you.
Okay, so this is by far the longest THANK YOU SPEECH I’ve given,
and possibly in the history of DU, but who fucking cares!
I’m Honored.
and
I’m Shocked
and
I was Speechless [until now]
because it had been awhile since I’ve taken a Trophy home.
So, Miss Ahavati and Voters,
I will take my Trophy home now and display it with Pride!
Thank You.
