or have you ever met one and what's it like?

also, do you think there's a link between creativity and mental illness?

Hard to fully define "psychopath", but I suppose I'm a little crazy (especially off medicine). I believe a strong link, among many, between mental illness and creativity has something to do with the inability to labor 8 hours a day on a set schedule. Therefore you have "more" time for creative arts, even if you sleep 18 hours a day. Most people that work their lives away don't want to make time to fiddle with their once-favorite hobby.

I had a crazy guy living two houses next to our house, he used to scream at night, run around in the road half naked. my siblings told me he was a bright kid and his parents forced him to study more and he became like this after like 17 - 18.
he will stay in the hospitals for months and will be back for few weeks at home.

I was wondering what would go in that mind to act all crazy. doesn't care about what or who's around you. I wanted to understand the different between a sanity and insanity. And I think creativity is a mental illness in a way.

Do you consider narcissism to be psychopathic?

Is attention seeking disorder naturally Narcist or do other factors apply?

How do I know if I'm a Narc or a Pshyco?

primarily I'm wondering if anyone has any interesting perspectives on psychopaths based off personal experience, but yes.. It's fairly obvious I'm also a narcissist looking for attention.

😂 love that Umm - clearly you're neither if u can laugh at yourself

Hi Al - Though both lack empathy and behaviourally they may appear similar - for Narcissists attention/regard/status etc is a means in itself whereas for Psychopaths attention/regard/status is a means to an end

going to your second point - amongst the common garden manic depressive, PTSD sufferers etc most of DUP is outside of the social consensus of reality and there's probably a handful of Psychos and a hat stand of sociopaths trolling under the guise of some assumed acceptable personality (just my opinion)
But it's probably impossible to write poetry without empathy and insight - so yeah there's a lot of crazy people on DUP but it cas to be the right kind of crazy to be creative - manic depressive for example can be great for poetry though obviously awful for the sufferer.
If you want to meet psychos there's easier ways than a poetry site

In my opinion, narcissism does not fall directly under psychopathy, but they often come in a package along with Machiavellianism and sometimes sadism. Someone can be narcissistic without being at all psychopathic, but rarely the other way around. To state in another way, one can choose to be narcissistic, but psychopathy is not a choice.

At whale, there are different types of empathy though. I'd say that observant empathy is necessary to write great poetry, but affective empathy (the ability to relate to the emotions of others, to actually feel what they feel) is not necessary to write. I only say this, because I don't really become emotionally attached while writing, it just happens. But the understanding of what emotions should be displayed helps to get the point across.

And to comment on the original question... Actually, most people have met psychopaths, but you wouldn't know. They are mostly self-aware and are very good at pretending to be something they are not, like displaying false emotion, compulsive but skillful lying, and getting what they want out of you.
