at the field's end
she leaves him again
for the one who owns
the rings on her finger
she says she will be back
with her backpack
she will leave with him
for any places unknown
he waits behind the tree
his heart swelling with desire
and love for his darling
someone's wife someone's mother
in the distance a gunshot
nothing is heard again
he has been there three days
tears swollen eyes
broken heart in pieces
as he slowly returns to nature.
