That Cheerful Woman In You
.. ...
There I am in the middle of a weird conversation
A lucid dream is being engineered
Going all unseen among your old enemies
Unsolved mysteries
I had been home to that cheerful woman in you...
When you were... a spy ... just across the lane
That woman in you who brings out... the mole ...in me
I won't fail to reproduce the words, the phrases, the scenes
Some things never change
Some things stay the same
Jog my furtive movements... Jog my memory ...
There I am in the middle of a weird conversation
A lucid dream is being engineered
Going all unseen among your old enemies
Unsolved mysteries
I had been home to that cheerful woman in you...
When you were... a spy ... just across the lane
That woman in you who brings out... the mole ...in me
I won't fail to reproduce the words, the phrases, the scenes
Some things never change
Some things stay the same
Jog my furtive movements... Jog my memory ...

Heroes and Mothers
Women in humble homes should be revered
when with their children they spin dreams
of their future greatness in ethics and creed
to achieve what they left for motherhood
for healthy sons and daughters
they toil with love always unseen
their looks judged as beauty fades
as they turn homes into the family haven
their heads may know no crowns
nor will they ever lead great nations
but within their love future seeds
of leaders and greatness reside
fathers may leave absconding from duties
but mothers stand strong...
when with their children they spin dreams
of their future greatness in ethics and creed
to achieve what they left for motherhood
for healthy sons and daughters
they toil with love always unseen
their looks judged as beauty fades
as they turn homes into the family haven
their heads may know no crowns
nor will they ever lead great nations
but within their love future seeds
of leaders and greatness reside
fathers may leave absconding from duties
but mothers stand strong...

the poem my period brought me
it’s been 107 days since I bled
my womb thick with exit signs
a few little deaths
long strands
streak across white tissue
as I look at them momentarily
revelling in an explanation
for the tears that flooded
the whole damn house
because sure
I blamed the moon
and Mercury
and that wayward bomb
as a valid reason as to why
I’ve felt so atomically shitty,
but there’s no-one else here
in the bathroom
behind a closed door
demanding...

Women and Freedom
I seek not to disparage
Nor strive to be like you
Difference, not inequality
I am woman, authentic, true
Not at liberty to provide
Emancipation, up to me
Asking of you the privilege
Implies I am unfree
Approval is unnecessary
Not a question of causality
Needing not your permission
To establish equality
Uninspired to be you
My own self on a stage
For he who wishes to dominate
I shall refuse to engage
Inspired by Simone De Beauvoir – The Second Sex

Thoughts from Abroad.
It's kinda placid down on land
just this sussering bee-like breeze
a peace rarely felt by humans
except in silent deep-sleep dreams.
The dust dims the glare of sun-beams
but the twinkle of ancient stars
at night, here, bright as silvered steel
we are privileged to be here, on Mars...
But in our Habs, our own tin cans,
the noise of bedlam reigns supreme
squawking DSN's from Maven
and various rovers compete
with the LSS, and my team,
and gurgles from the hydroponic farms
creating soya meat'n greens,
we are...
just this sussering bee-like breeze
a peace rarely felt by humans
except in silent deep-sleep dreams.

Daughters of Elysium (2)
the daughters of Elysium
shimmer in the light
of waves of heat arising
from sunlight oh so bright
in a secret place caressed by winds
and bound by natural law
you are on my mind again
in forever more
as rushing waters sparkle
through the forest's hush
the daughters of Elysium
dance in nature lush
on my mind you are again
and too you're in my heart
we seem joined forever
even though apart
as the daughters of Elysium
come in and out of view
in my mind and in my heart
I think of...
shimmer in the light
of waves of heat arising
from sunlight oh so bright
in a secret place caressed by winds
and bound by natural law
you are on my mind again
in forever more
as rushing waters sparkle
through the forest's hush
the daughters of Elysium

we seem joined forever
even though apart

come in and out of view
in my mind and in my heart
