Hymn to Trees
Black boots leave a bus
as I watch it trundle off
into English dust
I pass through a kissing gate
walk past the orchard full
of Beltane blossom
up a dirt track towards
a meadow full of buttercups
and red clover.
There she stands
Bella, my oak tree
on her own in the midst
of a lone field
she who stands with ribbons
tied into her spindles
markers of every prayer
every thought
every wish ever uttered.
I sit here sometimes
crouching to reach a crawl-space...
as I watch it trundle off
into English dust
I pass through a kissing gate
walk past the orchard full
of Beltane blossom
up a dirt track towards
a meadow full of buttercups
and red clover.
There she stands
Bella, my oak tree
on her own in the midst
of a lone field
she who stands with ribbons
tied into her spindles
markers of every prayer
every thought
every wish ever uttered.
I sit here sometimes
crouching to reach a crawl-space...

Green with Gratitude - NaPoWriMo 5
Previously,
I lambasted Japan
For it’s lack of Greenery;
sparse leafy hedges and trees
in the suburbs
With parks that feature
mostly rocks
and a flowing stream,
Far too urbanised for my tastes.
But then I went to a
Promenade beside a river
Where Cherry Blossom trees
Flanked the path,
And I understood;
Japan’s lack of verdant greenery
only goes to heighten their
Appreciation of nature,
For the few and far between places and spaces.
While England,
The Green and Pleasant land
is...

The Meek Are Ready.
She plugged her ears and moved swiftly through the trees.
She thought of the sounds that crickets make
anything to drown out the screams.
Fear began whispering inside of her head.
She wanted to go back but she knew even if
they're alive now in a few moments they'd all
be dead.
Booms, bangs, cries, and shrieks they
should've ran with her instead they called her
a Jesus freak.

Telluric
Willows in the wind
bringing ancestral voices...
We learn to listen,
we teach ourselves to be silent.
Birds sing the song of the ground,
a river of flames crosses the hearts.
The juice of life sprouting
in the fruits of the air.
The body submerges in the waters
of eternal universal return.
Me inside the forest
that is the forest inside me.
bringing ancestral voices...

i.
each word you spit
instead of convey
sits heavy as a grave
on your shoulders
we can’t carry the whole world
in our arms, especially
across barbwire beliefs
and minefields of thought
whispering ‘enemy’
it’s time for a proper burial
if we can reach the river
and lay it all down
without giving in
and killing one another first

The Wise Old Tree
I was walking down the lake.
Mascara dripping down my face.
And a white dress covered in lace.
The lake was my comfort place.
Where I can calm down in a comfortable pace.
Beside me,was a wise,old tree.
It looked old,but not that old to me.
It had gold leaves, branches, small and big.
And its crown was lit by the sun.
I felt a sense of comfort, and no need to run from anything.
I sat beside the tree and looked up at the sky.
I told myself I'm sad.
And the tree asked me, ""Why?"'.
I told him and...

Sunshiny Day
easy sorrow, today is a beautiful day
I understand your desire to paint things melancholy
but today I'm going to kiss the sky
and give reverence to the beauty I see
the garden flowers worship the sun
and the weeds too
the moist earth giving birth to seedlings
the trees so solemn
history is contained in their branches
they whisper quietly among themselves
hush now they may be telling you a secret
the dandelions a delight decorating the grass
everything in a symbiotic relationship with one another
the birds and...

A KIND OF INTERCOURSE IN NATURE
The gentle flowers of the meadow are all femininity.
The erect trunks of the trees of the forest all masculinity.
So the place where forest and meadow meet = a heterosexual union.
A realm of romance.
A sort of intercourse between two opposites in Nature.

A Natural Beauty
drifting through the day
I awaken to the sunshine
deeply filled with a sense of appreciation
lilting on the winds with the trees
communicating with their leaves
drowsy little flowers in the flowerbeds smile skyward
and I smile with them
touching the sky with my love
a tiny little soul wandering nature
connected to the earth and vibrating with the dirt
whispering my secrets to an obliging field
the orchard watches on
sentient beings
stoically keeping record of time
today is a beautiful day

Were I a Palm Tree
I see a palm tree
stand tall
arms spread wide
reaching across the sky
fingers waving in the wind.
As I look at the palm tree
I wonder
if it were me
would I be as happy and glee?

Sunset
I sat beneath an Almond tree
by the sea,
and looked at the sun as it set
over the horizon.
The sea,
in its serenity,
beckoned to me.
I closed my eyes
and the magic died.
by the sea,
and looked at the sun as it set
over the horizon.
The sea,
in its serenity,
beckoned to me.
I closed my eyes
and the magic died.

Life of a Tree
Deeply rooted in the womb of
Mother Earth
Branches stretched out to the sky
I connect this planet with the
Spiritual realm
Being a tree I am more awaken
Than I was in my life as a human
Once I was an insecure woman
Full of doubt without self-esteem
Now I live in widening circles and
Trust in nature's cyclical unfolding
Every spring I am reborn
In full bloom
A bride of the man of green
Soon after I give birth to
Sweet summer fruits
Before autumnal storms
Ask me for the death dance
And I let...
