Dykes on Bikes
Now I will preface this by saying that my partner, at the time, was the licensed Harley owner and sometimes your bike is only as good as the precious cargo (her words) onboard for the scenic view. Much to my surprise the majority of representatives were also MTF transsexual (as she was) however, the lesbians would have never known the difference; particularly at that distance. What they didn’t know just might have been great for em’, in the sense of, challenging the framework for how we view, build and reference feminism and femininity (ies) at large. Truth be told; some of these chicks were...

“look at her legs”
why are her legs so hairy?"
"another lesbian. I wish they would wear jeans."
"ugh. no one wants to see that."
My legs are how they are because that is how I like them.
I am not a lesbian.
Maybe in another life.
actually, see, you have to be a girl to be a lesbian,
and you also have to not be attracted to men.
No, I'm not a girl,
"girl" feels like tight shoes, like, it's no shirt, no shoes, no service, and I have to wear my flats from five years ago inside
because I have GOT to get to that bathroom with the wrong sign -
girl is tight...

Lipstick Redemption
When an unseasonably warm autumn comes to Natchez, the trees aren’t colorful down in this part of the south, but another splendor catches my eye. My friend from grade school sports a long ponytail with curls dangling from his bangs. So maybe he’s going for the Bohemian look. He has always been a non-conformist down to his shoulder-length hair.
He is a Libra, so is it any surprise that we celebrate the Harvest season by him giving me and my sister a drive down the Natchez Trace to a creek? He says, “Rosie and John, hope this doesn’t come as any shock to you but I think I was...

Neurotic Trans Girl Love Sabotage
Stumble, bumble,
Crashing into the kitchen table,
Clashing into the trenches of my sectional.
The taste of my slowing rising hydrochloric acid/jack daniel mix burns my esophagus.
I think of big words when I'm anxious.
He stares
So much care.
I'm so scared.
He doesn't get my personal to-get-drunk dare.
He assimilates to me, I was a male-born woman.
Transgender like a title.
Leper.
He holds the soft part of my jaw,
The part that made people look at me weird.
That helped me pass.
But not get past...
