How I feel
My dad is always throwing in my face my abuse of drugs/alcohol. When I have bags under my eyes, it’s drugs. When i lay in bed on my day off, I’m hungover. When I’m not hungry, it’s both. When really, it’s depression. That’s how it works. It goes dormant for periods of time, then hits like a ton of bricks. And you can’t escape it. You can’t get rid of it. No amount of treatment, therapy, or pills will erase it. Just like the thought of ending it all. It’s always there. Always in the back of my mind. I try to ignore it. Belief Transcends
Belief transcends the natal form
set in place by fate forlorned
for the jest now at hand
a vision some misunderstand
the outer does not display
congruency with a faith
that identity flows from the whole
with the parts then transposed
when compared to the normative
this outcome of derivatives
a new identity is expressed
now that oneness has been addressed
personhood at last declared
even though the pundits glare
at a faith that’s absolute
when belief defines a truth.

Corner is a Door
Sometimes the corner is a door
defying tradition as a course
what came before is in the past
flat conveyance not meant to last
the entrance or exit become the same
just as confused with none to blame
whether to come or to go
matters not when all’s disclosed
normality has been cast aside
now exposed as mostly lies
the gateway now swings both ways
as the bend denies the straight
the same is sought at junction’s bend
attraction lending a helping hand
sometimes corners support the way
blessing paths now...

Mirror’s Many Ways
Consider the mirror’s many ways
reality fully in its sway
with impacts from good to bad
the spectrum ranges from glad to sad
first bending reality to the distress
of the viewers who damn the skin
the reminder of dysphoria
the opposite of gender euphoria
others see a compliment
the very best then dominant
that beauty in the beholder’s eye
reflection sharing a silvered reply
lastly the echo speaks of escape
possibilities beyond what’s displayed
dreams imagined with foresight
in the face of glassed...
reality fully in its sway

Same is Best
Perhaps the same is for the best
connections made in relevance
when similarities move the heart
and cause coyness to depart
some would ask why this is
that sapphic thoughts lead to bliss
their derision matters not
when two souls are resolved
finding pleasure across the board
from conversation to intercourse
above all else love is found
it’s to this feeling each is bound
the queer approach is not for all
some are cursed to hetero
revel is the same is best
be the flavor east or west.

Transition in Latitude
The choice is made in the soul
if a decision is the right word
instead a knowing represents
identity that fits the best
fully vested to the outcome
even though the outside lags
knowledge is held in the heart
asks for acceptance to come first
separation of biased thoughts
from the person that I am
attacks a target that does not exist
even as I must persist
an integration is my lot
with a hope the world will grasp
the whole offered up for view
with transition in latitude.

The choice made of identity
one or the other to fit in
is made when survival asks
individuals to protect their ranks
the paths opened have their risks
with a threat at dagger’s edge
to sanity or life’s continuance
neither salves the normative
there’s no attempt to trick the group
instead the ruse is hoped adequate
to shield the self from the diatribes
prompted by ignorance of the tribe
identity is clearly known

Love extends beyond the rules

by their sight bound to ignorance

Forgiveness was not my request
solicitation as a bequest
from damnation imagined by
those without a reference to my life
the offer smacks of hyperbole
a bargain made with misery
based on assumptions without a care
for the lives cast to disrepair
to be washed from myself
cleansed until nothings left
has no attraction if life awaits
beyond the judgment of conjured fates
deny the pardons filled with fault
creating guilt where there is none
clemency offered asks one to admit

A New Deck
Travels far from the home place
ask the traveler to contemplate
what holds them to the land
from which the path first led
identity is bound to change
morph to fit the present day
diverging from the fair wishes
of those who saw the natal day
these circumstances are enough
even though the crowd protests
to establish a new reality
so much more set in verity
those departures that life insists
relevance found that persists
is the hand now surely dealt
from the top of a new deck.

Dear Dad....
You've always been there for me,
Always loved, cared for, and supported me,
Always wanted to see, and encouraged my personal growth,
You've gone above and beyond your oath
To be the best father in the world,
Teaching me about the world, that before me, has part by part, unfurled.
You've taught me right from wrong,
You've taught me to be strong
(Physically, emotionally, and mentally)
And (though I'm still learning) to be orderly,
You've taught me how to learn, different mediums for expressing my creativity, 3D...
