Summer Poems
#summer
Summer poems about the warmest season of the year, June to August in the northern hemisphere and December to February in the southern hemisphere. Summer brings the longest days, where things heat up with summer fun, and nature is in full bloom.
Flight
**** flight *****
here comes the time again
for ethereal flowers to fly
for the poet to watch and sigh,
to only behold without asking why?
here's a dandelion about to fade away
the music dissolving into atmosphere
with the slightest touch of the breeze
and your heart takes flight overseas
carried aloft, into heaven's relief
stripped from any mundane grief
entranced the feel, a delightful sheer
and quietly the dark leaves the night
a bright tide, then illuminates the light ...

unwelcomed heat
the heat
today
sneaking
its way
into raised
windows,
pushing
itself
over the
carpets,
up against
the walls,
ceilings,
staying
like it
was a
distant
relative
that comes
to visit
unwelcomed.

coming another storm
he couldn't
sleep
that night,
heavy,
undressed
the trees,
hear
the chorus,
lurching at
riddled
corpses,
he had
a drink
and scrawled
his name.

What He Saw On One Summer Night
One summer,
Princeton stepped outside for
some air and spotted twin chicks splashing
in the water until they looked at him before
Jenna smacked him on the head and got
him to come and rejoin
the party.

This Is What I Want You To Do Here On The Beach
Go ahead. Rub
some Hawaiian
Tropic sunscreen
on my back seen
bare due to the
lack of a top.

the window is open
gathered
summer
waits outside,
its breath
beating down
on the
rooftops,
in the
beginning
it was
pleasant
company,
now
its stay
overbearing,
open
the windows,
let in
the winds,
the rain
responds
to all
the rude
sun's
earlier
questions.

you sold me forever and i bought it
chaotic and melancholic
a reflection of what used to be
take everything we once had
hold it to your heart
and never stop dwelling on it
for every time i thought of you
i’d hoped you’d try to find me
but i wept alone in agony
always and forever
were my lies
yet you forced me to speak them
we’ll remain tied by an invisible string
and we will speak;
sometimes and briefly
occasionally and barely
but never always or forever;
the lies i told
you sold them to me
-hope

Columbian Rain
High tempers in full humidity
Wind becomes a telltale sign
'Storms a brewing' as we say
Muddy clouds spill out sparingly
Never enough, better than none
Scorching streets screaming
Aloud, a fresh smell of relief
Allowed such short reprieve
Before heat returns with a loud
Spiteful buffet of vengeance
I draw deep, fresh air sweet
Cherishing before it runs stale
November only six months away
So, 'While I breathe I hope'
Wind becomes a telltale sign
'Storms a brewing' as we say
Muddy clouds spill out sparingly
Never enough, better than none
Scorching streets screaming
Aloud, a fresh smell of relief
Allowed such short reprieve
Before heat returns with a loud
Spiteful buffet of vengeance

Cherishing before it runs stale
November only six months away
So, 'While I breathe I hope'

Sommer Chaos

drench me (heat)
drench me
in whichever
kisses you
give me,
each
in turn
to stain my
complexion,
to warm
me well,
i want
to cut
the day
into pieces,
gather my
favorite
slices, like
treasures,
holding you
until my
fingers get
too hot
to contain
your heart.

June Beauties
June Beauties
spearmint tea
to get fresh with the taste buds
like an unruly schoolgirl
love made
on the mint beds of Oz
for saucy coeds
fresh squeezed
tamarind teasers
for a cup of Jolene
fresh April berries
paint her lips purple
as a Mardi Gras Queen
Chantilly icing
for her cake of lies
to beguile boys
key lime fresh
on a summer’s afternoon
her June dress

Great Day For A Cool Swim
Preston and some friends arrived at the beach house
just in time to see Juliette swimming around
in a black bikini before she heard a
voice say "Great day for a cool swim, Darling Sweetheart!"
