Summer Poems
#summer
Summer poems about the warmest season of the year, June to August in the northern hemisphere and December to February in the southern hemisphere. Summer brings the longest days, where things heat up with summer fun, and nature is in full bloom.
draft
Woodland paths, and the wind wrapped canopy.
Pine snaps hauled in wicker baskets. Soggy fire pits
and waterlogged shoes. Sunburnt opisthenar.
Comroderic nights, silent twilights. Beneath
the burning sun- the deafening hum
of cicadas, on a boulder near muddy water.
On a wooden stump entrenched in tangerine-colored needles
Among friends in a dim and humid great hall.
Blasting fans and lightning storms
bombarding rains- wash all away.

Silvers and Golds
summer unfolds
in end of the season
silvers and golds
colours so pleasing
just like the sky
in early morning
the Sun rising high
as autumn is dawning
on a wobbling world
where seasons keep changing,
with Sun we are swirled
currents exchanging
moving through space
we're in the aether
in which we each face
forever to leave a
vibration, a spark
a ripple expanding
a light in the dark
from where we are standing
as summer unfolds
with end of the season
silvers...

Melt in Summer
Leave me brown
Make me frown
Sweet divine
Valentine
Commit a crime
In summertime
I draw a line
And barely rhyme
Make me sweat
And regret
Close break off
Smudged makeup
We do melt
Was so wet
How it felt
Oh,
So perfect
Covered in
Summer heat
Swallow and
Wait to eat
Melted down
Chocolate
Make me frown
Sweet divine

Summer
The earth felt massive yet motionless.
When my heart twists and hurts lie.
But clouds in secret shapes still crawl bye.
Some in a wispy angel divine.
Hard flapping at the feeder.
The smaller the bird,
the more voracious an eater.
We should be devouring
all those little things, gloriously sweeter.
The brightest of sun rests her rays
silently knowing the stifling sorrow it slays.
We noticed the female cardinal has a scarlet head.
Decorated messengers from beyond the dead.
Is a bird's flight planned?
Like scurrying...

Summer Fling
It appears
I am running out of time
that fulfillment
to ease this worried mind
It could be as simple as a kiss
feeling adored in a moment
or...
it could be downright pornographic
no part of you left to the imagination
my heat conducted
anywhere you like it
Every year,
I think the same
and the season
is gone in a blink
And I am left
to release myself
when it gets too much,
inventing affairs
in all shapes and persuasions
but I still know
that the real deal
is the only...

A Lull
I do love a bit of a lull
another chance to then mull
things again over
like these fields of clover
With their keen dappled sheen
a most insistent verdant green
this soft carpet beneath my feet
makes my life once more complete
In a most bucolic way
on this midsummer day
when winter seems so far
as sunlight balms each scar
While I now savor this time
each breath between rhyme
feel my lungs now fill
before I pen my next spill
Safe here in this inner glow
where...

Little Dragons
Two dragonflies
dip and weave
in the sultry updraft
they know how
to live in the moment
their dreams
free and windblown
a short life filled up
dancing
with the twilight sun.

Summer Rain
summer rain is gently falling
on the trees both short and tall in
the forest on the mountain,
a liquid luscious from sky fountain
sustaining life for every being
as I'm sitting drinking tea in
the light of early morning
rhythmic rhyming here now dawning
pitter patter pitter patter
raindrops falling then they shatter
on tree branches and the ground,
on my car roof with soothing sound
as waves of natural condensation
create from evaporation
drips which trickle into streams,
ocean mixed with sunlight...

High Summer
The pavement cracks and shimmers
below the magnifying glass of sun
that burns and drives the ants inside
as others free of work this day
lie down inside a case of cream
and scorch like hams around their seams.
It’s been a year now since your father died,
high summer marked his transition
from off this world to that, and yet questions
remain. Perhaps the African, with whom
the man claimed your father sought
forgiveness in the lord, would know
the answers that you seek. Often they come
to this: why do you love someone who...
