Summer Poems
#summer
Summer poems about the warmest season of the year, June to August in the northern hemisphere and December to February in the southern hemisphere. Summer brings the longest days, where things heat up with summer fun, and nature is in full bloom.
Great Day For A Cool Swim
Preston and some friends arrived at the beach house
just in time to see Juliette swimming around
in a black bikini before she heard a
voice say "Great day for a cool swim, Darling Sweetheart!"

heat
touch me
all
that you
feel
to be
justified,
to be
fair,
tickle
my exposed
skin,
still knowing
i will not
be able
to return
or give
what
your favor
i received.

A Cicada's Song
Cicada summer nights, sing me your tune
Backyard tents with friends in the mid of June
Christmas lights wrapped around the walnut trees
Amidst Missouri heat, sweat without breeze
Why did we all need to grow up so soon?
Roasting marshmallows with Mom 'till they bloom
Close laughter together, touching the moon
When hours felt like hours, nothing more to seize
Cicada summer nights
Fire's embers, dancing canvas shadows loom
Fading to dreams beside Dad's guitar tune
Looking back, good times can be such a tease
Early days come...

Embracing The Aquatic - Heat 4
Summer, Saturday morning
hundreds of swimsuited kids
descend on their neighborhood,
or foes,
cabana club
and thus begins
the weekly swim meet.
Commencing with
brief warm up practice
followed by a long, tedious wait
for one's racing heat.
When at our home pool competing,
We'd spread our beach towels
on the grassy hill
overlooking the contest.
Biding our time
sunbathing, clowning around, and eating.
Mom brought chocolate covered donut sticks and boxes of strawberry Jello…our fingers and lips dyed...

in the desert
here
i saw
myself alone
in the
ocean
of sand,
my shoes
leaving
their
conversations,
my thoughts
running low,
and
in the end,
i lost
myself
out there,
to be
weathered,
my silence
got no
discussion
from
the sky,
the wind,
all those
little
creatures
thought
nothing
while
trespassing
over
my bones.

painting every space
i want
to paint
every space,
every shelf,
every curve
within
my house,
with colorful
foliage,
with blooms,
decorating
so many
containers,
to dress
my house
up in
spring flowers,
changing
her clothe
once summer
is in
her closet.

Why Did You Do That To Me?! Are You Crazy?!
Jonathan walked
to the pool
and spotted Brooke
sleeping naked on a
float over the water.
But when he touched her skin,
it made her go into the water.

No compositions by Vivaldi
I was born in the twilight of centuries,
when the sun, tired from its journey,
sinks into the golden horizon
and the moon emerges shy and silvery.
O nature, wise and ancient,
you owe me the sighs of the trees,
and the murmur of the dancing brook.
The scents of wild flowers.
You owe me the whisper of the wind
that caresses the leaves and hair.
And the embrace of the ground, firm and welcoming,
that supports my uncertain steps.

Urging Him To Come Over
Colin
walked to the pool
and saw Julia in a
blue bikini urging him to
come over and join her at that one spot.

butter melts
in Yangtze River
of her summer
blackberry wine
stains summer dress
of organdy
april rain
stains madras dress
in summer pearls
orange juice
sweet as sticky satsuma
licked by love
spring tears
roll like liquid sunshine
mixed blessings
anointed
by mint julep blues
her green blush
