blanket
blanket,
lay closer
to me,
hold me,
protect me
from
the barking
cold
as if
someone
would protect
a child
from a
savage dog
that would
choose
to do
some
discomfort
or harm.

I trust it, you hate it
I abused you when I had the time
Never saw it on your face
Reconstruction in your own words
I didn't mind, no I'm not a head case
Such good times looking into your eyes
Your beauty screams pain, I know that your mine
Becoming sober was your mistake
There's nothing left for you here
I trust it, you hate it
Nightmares heal, reality is fear
I long to hear you kill your lies
Now I feel so haunted as I search for
Any excuse that will ease my mind
Love till death, unusable whore
Never saw it on your face
Reconstruction in your own words
I didn't mind, no I'm not a head case
Such good times looking into your eyes
Your beauty screams pain, I know that your mine
Becoming sober was your mistake
There's nothing left for you here

Conflagration
I was roused from sleep that night,
an awakening that was
like the jab of a nightmare.
With heart pounding, I wobbled
toward the door, then I stopped—
the commotion was outside.
Cautious now, I creaked it
open and sirens rushed in.
Barefoot on spiky, wet grass,
I reached the fence and tiptoed,
I felt the heat on my face
saw the skyline set aflame.
America is burning.
an awakening that was
like the jab of a nightmare.
With heart pounding, I wobbled
toward the door, then I stopped—
the commotion was outside.
Cautious now, I creaked it
open and sirens rushed in.
Barefoot on spiky, wet grass,
I reached the fence and tiptoed,
I felt the heat on my face
saw the skyline set aflame.
America is burning.

The war is over?
I can't go on any longer
War wearied and worn soldiers
Fight battles for leaders
Whose hearts have grown colder
Hiding out in buildings of rubble
Machine gun fire doubles
While comfortable generals raise a toast
For map lines moving, ever so subtle
Clouds of debris from bombings
Innocent families sobbing
Cries from the dark night
Are stuck in my head, forever haunting
Friends tell me the war has ended
I'm back home and mending
But my thoughts are troubled
And I feel into hell, I've descended
War wearied and worn soldiers
Fight battles for leaders
Whose hearts have grown colder
Hiding out in buildings of rubble
Machine gun fire doubles
While comfortable generals raise a toast
For map lines moving, ever so subtle
Clouds of debris from bombings
Innocent families sobbing
Cries from the dark night
Are stuck in my head, forever haunting
Friends tell me the war has ended
I'm back home and mending
But my thoughts are troubled
And I feel into hell, I've descended

Cycle of trauma
Voices like leaves in the wind,
Here and gone again, and again.
Seasons change.
People change.
Feelings change.
Reasons change.
Dreams change.
But we're still the same.
Cought in a loop of demolition.
Aggravation.
Isolation.
Contemplating.
So frustrating.
When's it gonna end?
Over and over.
Again and again.
Stuck with a label.
As if I'm unable,
to try.
To cry.
To soar or fall,
Across the sky.
I wonder why?
I bother....
Here and gone again, and again.
Seasons change.
People change.
Feelings change.
Reasons change.
Dreams change.
But we're still the same.
Cought in a loop of demolition.
Aggravation.
Isolation.
Contemplating.
So frustrating.
When's it gonna end?
Over and over.
Again and again.
Stuck with a label.
As if I'm unable,
to try.
To cry.
To soar or fall,
Across the sky.
I wonder why?
I bother....
