Be Afraid To Be Alone
The night is growing
You are still awake
Your T.V. is snowing
You have a mild headache
The winds punish your shutters
The rain brutalizes your house
A local owl hoots its mutter
The elements create a rouse
The branches claw your windows
The trees sway along the breeze
The thunder rolls its billows
While the lightning threatens to seize
Your T.V. becomes alive
Broadcasting the local news
There were reports of a demise
On the very street you snooze
There’s a sudden interruption
An escape from an asylum ...

Lost
My eyes became balloons
When I targeted the prize
My heart grew the size of moons
Kidnapping my breath like a child
On the brink to become baptized
My childhood flashed
In brief moments of elation
So many smiles cracked my face
Surrounded by the annoyance
Of delivery vexation
The price was right
Avoiding a crater in my wallet
Though my childhood is priceless
I was more than happy to swallow it
Daydreams and dreams at night
Playing hooky for just a bite
Tournaments with friends...

Monotone
Poetry response to Jade Pandora’s poem “blue”
As a poet I know the light
its captivating colors
all of the vivid hues
yet now I only see the blues
Whether within the sea
or above in a clear sky
still I never dare ask why
there remains so much sorrow
Yesterday, today and tomorrow
seem fated to be filled
with all of this blue
no matter what I try to do
Despite everything I write
on any given day or night
I am still left here alone
forever bathed in monotone
As a poet I know the light
its captivating colors
all of the vivid hues
yet now I only see the blues
Whether within the sea
or above in a clear sky
still I never dare ask why
there remains so much sorrow
Yesterday, today and tomorrow
seem fated to be filled
with all of this blue
no matter what I try to do
Despite everything I write
on any given day or night
I am still left here alone
forever bathed in monotone

Truest Hue
Sadness is its very own hue
a truer shade of blue
seen somewhere between
the color of sea and sky
Only felt when I cry
only viewed when I have lied
about all those denied
happily ever afters
Camouflaged with laughters
never ever sincere
there to make it clear
that sorrow is the new black
Covering up all we still lack
plunging in the front
allows me to be blunt
about my need for love
As unnecessary as a glove
after the scene of the crime
after the murder...

Prismaticism
Inspired by "Prismatic Tear"
by PAR
Always basking in the light
even deep into the night
I feel the colors split
so many hues of blue
Each one sadder than the last
as I reflect upon the past
becoming more mirror
than any focusing lens
Making me wonder why
even when I turn to the sky
I see the rainbow bend
always downward

Drizzly
Funny how a cold gentle rain
repeats its own sad refrain
each drop a word
each drop a round pebble
splashing in a brown puddle
as my world continues to muddle
itself slowly along
with no clear end in sight
providing fresh ink for the write
while I fizzle here in the drizzle
repeats its own sad refrain
each drop a word
each drop a round pebble
splashing in a brown puddle
as my world continues to muddle
itself slowly along
with no clear end in sight
providing fresh ink for the write
while I fizzle here in the drizzle

Something In the Mirror
A coagulation of ideas,
congregations around the bleeding
dreams of yesterday, while the remains
of a life slowly drain away
I often tug at the scab of unrealized
creations, yearning for things long since
taken away, it's the invisible scars that
often hurt the most
Had love been the cure, the candle in my
heart might still burn, alas there is only cold
where warmth once was, and an emptiness
from whence a universe is born
So deep the fantasy, to reality there is
no return, only the continuous walk between ...

A Better Tomorrow
What of these cards a man be dealt
a twisted fate no longer felt
raging river or endless sea
he seeks alone his destiny
And facing death, eights and aces
so many familiar faces
dance aimlessly through memories
they whisper to him in the trees
Despite the road, we journey forth
a simple path without a course
wandering minds so colorful
he pushed the pen and felt the pull
Into a world of poetry
where thoughts are scribed so eagerly
amidst the backdrop of sorrow
he writes a better tomorrow
a twisted fate no longer felt
raging river or endless sea
he seeks alone his destiny
And facing death, eights and aces

dance aimlessly through memories

Despite the road, we journey forth

he writes a better tomorrow

A son too soon has set…
A dark corner in a smoke filled bar room
there sits a man contemplating his doom
holding the dust of a once first born bloom
sipping on bourbon he seals his own tomb
Traveling through time in a mind full of loss
swimming through starlight he hazards the cost
will forever be enough time to mourn
drowning in the river Styx he’s reborn
Future is farther away than before
he barters with gods to settle the score
a temptress in black spreads her wings to fly
silently crying, his tears asking why
Loss tears a piece of the...
