THE PROMISE
He knelt before her
With sweaty palms and on feeble knees
The future before his eyes forever a blur
As he took his hand in his to make his plea
Opening the ring box – he made his proposal
Wondering with heart-racing pounds if she’d accept or deny
His plea he placed at her mercy or disposal
Seconds seemed long before her reply
Granting her final answer with acceptance
With only a few months to retract her admittance.
Sliding the ring on her finger – he betrothed
As they exchanged their personal oaths
Promising each other...

EQUIVALENT OCCURRENCES
A deep cry erupts the city street
A mother's heart races a rapid beat.
A whirlwind swivels round her baby girl
Toddler falls - as the world becomes a blur.
Traveling soul up to the heavens above
With the taste of her mother's love
Stifling numbness of her body on the ground
Panic strikes - drowning earthly sound.
Scent of eternity and freshly-cut grass
Awakens as the soul bypassed.
Do they come back, O God, the same?
Do they come back the same?
Filled with regrets, remorse and shame
Like a separation or divorce ...

As I lay crying
Awoke, with pressure in my head,
Brain felt like balloon, pink 'n' red.
As clichèt as it sounds,
It'll POP 'n' explode rounds.
a continual pump action,
Cranium capacity, full,
No more room, even a fraction,
Cracking open the skull.
Eleven hours, most of the day,
Head'll go BOOM, so clichèt.
The very next day I wake up,
Deep in ocean, like U-boat, sub.
Surface top, is baseline,
Emotions dive 'n' decline.
Periscope reluctant to raise,
Unable to see above top. ...

I still water a growing sorrow

[To drain the vast Blue sea]
Poetry response to “To make a prairie” by Emily Dickinson
To drain the vast Blue sea
Is quite the Feat to me ~
A tremendous endless flow
Executed without a flaw
Permits me to Withdraw
A trillion Thrice cried tears.

When April Sings Opera
A drama queen arises
Spewing chaos upon horizons
Parade of masks disguises
Unnecessary loss brutalizes
Tears among eyes agonizes
Devastating closures of franchises
Coldness continues its chastises
Sirens of sadness uprises
Future of hope surmises
Poetic edification sympathizes
Love and peace harmonizes
Abuse of alcohol tranquilizes
Quarantined houses jeopardizes
Social media still theorizes
Creative voices vocalizes
Circle of friends improvises
This poem truly apologizes

We Survived Their Attack Part 2
(Yesterday’s News). Page 3
I cower in her sands
Burying my head in her hands
I’m transported back home
Harkening to little footsteps roam
My wife is out with her friends
In search of her afterparty cleanse
The night is still young
I taste its intentions on my tongue
Time for my daughter’s dreams to ascend
Playing back my naughty thoughts as they suspend
I don on my maid
Purifying our quarters for a romantic cascade
The feng shui must compliment the mood
Candles and rose petals elevate my servitude

Sorrowful Vortex
Prompted by “The Dawn Appears With Butterflies”
by Joy Harjo
So much more than a hex
than a deadly curse
for better or worse
it is the very fabric of life
Harmony balancing with strife
is how the timeless river flows
before sharing all it knows
about this most human condition
No matter what rendition
you choose to now recite
day is always followed by night
life bequeaths its own death
Just as breath follows breath
steadily in then out
from true...

Dew
The mourning grass
glistens as I pass
still damp with the tears
of the lonely night
It makes me sad
the ever dawning day
will dry them all away
leaving not a single trace
Why does the festive sun
so love to shun
the dark weeping night
abandoning her to her poetry
Maybe it is because the moon
broke his heart too soon
wounding him deep
making him cold
That is why
I always still cry
when I feel the wept dew
truly understood by so few
glistens as I pass
still damp with the tears
of the lonely night
It makes me sad

will dry them all away

Unfrozen Tears
The cold wet sleet
just seems to again repeat
the same old lines
the same old song
As I still carry along
an unending burden
this deep aching sorrow
destined for many a tomorrow
Longing for warm feelings felt
become the spring with its ice melt
just seems to again repeat
the same old lines
the same old song
As I still carry along
an unending burden
this deep aching sorrow
destined for many a tomorrow

Memoria
These photos are broken
snapshots
webs of cracks lead
nowhere
cut these faces
his and mine
mock our smiles
cheeriness so forced
it broke all the glass
with him not here
to help fix the frame
