Lineage and Legacy
Lineage and Legacy as one must come to perceive
Those are life’s footprints we deem to conceive
Moments in time we have achieved
As we glance upon a mirror of our reflection
Our eyes, nose, lips, lineage at times comes into question
What makes us the person who we are
From a presence already ordained beyond a constellation of stars
Are we playing out our life on a cosmic screen
Sight and feelings in time unforeseen
Learning in life to keep our noses clean
If God does know all
Then why do we...

OLD WRITING TRUTHS NEEDED TODAY
NOTES
As I was going through old files,
papers, and notes from college days
I came across a graduate course
folder with the following writing tips.
1. Don't try to guess what people want to hear
from you; first, figure out what you have to say.
2. Rejection is a sure sign you are a serious writer.
3. Original thoughts flow quickly; borrowed ones don't.
4. Writing can, and does, take place at any time or place.
5. Few critics are on the Bestseller List.
6. You can't write effectively out of ignorance.
7. The first quality of a...

On Reading Ginsburg’s “Howl”
Once, I possessed an open mind,
which I assure you was my own.
I used it to read Ginsberg’s “Howl”.
Well, I don’t wish to be unkind
but those words seemed randomly sown.
my first reaction was a scowl.
So I tried a second reading.
His words looked clipped and pasted;
mashed to the page with cruel force.
Was he desperate? Was he bleeding?
Or perhaps just strangely wasted
by some bizarre urban remorse?
Was there a narrative to track,
or should I have even bothered to try?
Words like photos pinned up on a board ...
which I assure you was my own.
I used it to read Ginsberg’s “Howl”.
Well, I don’t wish to be unkind
