The garbage
of life,
cunning smoke
on the other side
of the limit,
a voice rises,
there's no poems,
only the sound & fall
of industry,
and the billboards,
they gash &
tear at my eyes
while driving.

Sunday Shoes
inspired by wife Vanessa
Can you walk a mile
In my Sunday shoes?
Go to places I've been long and wide
Or some places you'll pay your dues?
Can you wear my shoes
That danced in God's praises
Cutting a step or two
Head reared back and voice raises high
Those old dusty Sunday shoes.
I walked places far as well a near
And back again to anywhere
To any place I want to go from here
And then again.
To marches long for freedom's cry
To church on a dusty country road
To the fields where cotton...

a writers life
A WRITERS LIFE
There is on Facebook pictures of dead film stars
like Elisabeth Taylor, who was born in London
and photos of her childhood.
I donīt really care about this. We should remember her
as a great actress, see her movies and shut up.
Then we have Ernest Hemingway, who is one of me
favourite writers, alas, he often appears in the picture
of his life, not so much about his writing, more about
his adventures, which I do not care to read about.
Dos Passos, another great writer, lived a smaller amount
of daring-do, but he surpassed...

to thine own self (and you) be true.
To find that secret place
'Tis once buried;
O' fathomless profound
thine own storied [mis]fortune
pondering the mere slight.
Perhaps thy burning thoughts
of divinely need?
As once, such burden form and fit
when hidden o'er dawn's dewy hilltops
of grassy blades
that cut
a deepest green
mixed
amongst crimson hue'd;
Hence so dense and heavy marked
here, in all acquired bold,
conjoined by sheer providence, now ours.
Keep chested locked in iron clasp
forever shared betwixt
us two, ...

DARING TO BE ME ( # 8 )
BOUNDARIES
As I gaze around me,
regardless of the context
of the place or the
people, I always
SEE
BOUNDARIES.
Yes, some of them,
such as traffic laws,
protect my safety;
banking laws protect,
most of the time,
my savings and investments.
Then there are those
rules and laws created
by none judges and legislators
who try to create boundaries for
MY LIFE.
Boundaries that try to keep
me within the fences they
think are best, for example.
of my sexual activities and
preferences in...

DARING TO BE ME (#7)
HUMILITY
Words are, in my opinion,
among, if not, the most
powerful forces in the world.
With words, we start
wars. and with words
we end wars.
With words, we start
a love journey and with
words we end the journey.
With words, we reveal the
opposite of what our
resume may claim or
position we hold affirms.
When I affirm I am
DARING
to be me, I am not
launching a promise
to treat others less than
kindly, lovingly, and special.
Perhaps in the past I haven't,
BUT,
now I am daring...
Words are, in my opinion,

the rancorous
The rancorous people
There is a country we are not allowed to mention
lest we are banned and silenced if telling the truth.
Once they were an oppressed people who by default
got a country of their own and set about eradicating
the people who lived there.
Their viciousness is despicable. I cannot think of any
a country that would have gotten away with this.
They are hated by their close neighbours who pretend,
for the sake of money, to be allies.
Now, this country of moral degenerates are using
the COVID-19 as a weapon to stop...

WHAT REALLY MATTERS IN THE END?
I have walked on all
the Continents in
the world, all 50 States,
and lost count of the
countries I have visited.
I say this not to impress
but to share what I, not
anyone else, have learned.
It hit me right between
the eyes a few years ago
as I heard what a group
of wealthy men said in the
last days in the terminal ward;
soon to face death.
They were all rich and
among the who's who
in society. In their last days
they were asked what,
when looking back really
mattered?
Was it their yachts,...

So, it finally happened, of course, Trump gets the blame
but I think this, not the whole story.
For years the workers have seen their wage packet shrinking
and their rights being ignored, no health insurance
nor trade union to look after their interest
As the common man gets poorer, the wealthy get richer
they live with the fear of needing surgery or losing the job.
The two ills go together if a sick person stay away from work
too long he gets fired anyway.
The people revolted Trump fanned the flame that already
was lit....
So, it finally happened, of course, Trump gets the blame
but I think this, not the whole story.

FACING LIFE'S CHALLENGES
SIRENS
Our birth certificates
did not come with the
guarantee that life would
be easy or we'd have smooth sailing.
If it did, in face of reality,
it would be a lie,
Life from the day of birth
to the day of death is filled
with challenges, difficulties,
and setbacks of every description.
There are surprises, unknown,
and lingering questions of WHY?
As they step into our pathway
or seek to keep us awake at night,
we can CHOOSE TO:
Curse them,
Deny them,
Run from them,
Transfer them,
or...
