Rain Poems
#rain
Poetry about rain, an ingenuity of the natural world. Beautiful nature poems about how rain nourishes the earth and provides life. Also poems about the power of rain, and how too much of it can negatively impact our lives.
Perfect Summer Night
Eyes closed like the whispers of pillow talk
A cold front coming over the horizon making me balk
Stripping the summer heat from the earth
Lightning electrifying the air giving me mirth
A slight drizzle like a kiss upon my skin
Ever so slight like the promise of a night full of sin
When it's ripped away as the wind whips up a gale
The lightning rips the dark sea of clouds asunder without fail
Squinting against the night becoming day
Falling back into the yard I lay
Soaked to the bone
This weather reminds me of home
Rain...

Stripping the summer heat from the earth
Lightning electrifying the air giving me mirth
A slight drizzle like a kiss upon my skin
Ever so slight like the promise of a night full of sin
When it's ripped away as the wind whips up a gale

Squinting against the night becoming day
Falling back into the yard I lay
Soaked to the bone
This weather reminds me of home

When looking in your eyes
At the bus station
Friday
That day our eyes first caught
the others reflection
A grayish blue
was the hue
The compassion of one that runs
to pick up a fallen companion
Behind blue eyes though
We hide our shadows
If that which is concealed
for what ever the reason maybe
Can not be discarded
then surely it shall return
Howling
Haunting
creeping
Clawing at the very essence within
Over the years watching you battle
Through the trauma
the agony
the scars...

A Wet Spell
The weather stole
My Halloween
The wettest one
Ive ever seen
The floods are rampant
The witches all wet
They can't fly their broomsticks
As the moon is ill-met
Their wands have gone droopy
Their pointy hats now smell
As nature reveals it's magic
For another wet spell

To continue
There's a murder of cows,
a herd of crows
resting in the sweet of a chestnut tree.
It's all or nothing.
I take her into the mire
and we come out cleaner,
make a pack-horse of the spine of me
by a gate,
she climbs a stone wall,
minds the barbing -
the pooling is too deep,
soil too swamped
for her tiny feet,
the ground a slick hazard,
made for riding,
we all have someone
willing to handle a hazard
to save our tenderest face.

Day Tripped!
For before four, came to the fore
I went on a mystery tour
It was at ten to ten
When i arrived at Tenterten
Tentatively travelling
And traversing the town
It was wet, and windy
So i left with a frown
I then bought a ticket to Rye
Still wet, and windy
So i left with a sigh
Until i finally fell over
When visiting the White Cliff's of Dover

The Ride
The Ride
I heard the shudder in your voice,
the melancholic trill
that told me everything -
it had been convincing
last time we'd walked in,
you were not bothered,
would not be -
after the rain had pushed us
out from East to West
we took to resting on a bridge,
arms left long upon that lichen-textured shelf.
You said that you loved her,
sighed it out, exposed us to it.
I watched that body unfurl.
Sunset burnt on like satsumas,
oozed onto our drenched, Autumn clothes.
I pooled my palm in...

Return of Sun
The steel sky surrendered it's captive - rain.
Glossy became the crimsin leaf pile.
To the sound of the static putter, I traverse the mental miles.
My tear soaked soul has a gloss all it's own.
The rain is as if you turned me inside out.
Trapped in this gloom, the return of sun
is a plausible doubt.
Hope is something known, like the lone but consistent chirp of a bird.
The sun, she sleeps beneath the cotton clouds.
For her promised return, I silently yearn.
Life seems easier when the sun lends a shine.
Total strangers become...

Liquid Luscious
pitter patter liquid chatter
rain falls down to splash
on the rooftops raindrops splatter
where they fall and crash
flowing downwards rain then rushes
drawn by gravity
liquid luscious water gushes
back towards the sea
intermingling with rain's sprinkling
chaotically it's joined
with tumbling, rumbling raindrops crumbling
sounds like words seem coined
coalescing liquid blessing
falling from the sky
pitter patter liquid chatter
mumbling from on high
as liquid luscious water gushes
back...

Yesterday the rain
Yesterday the rain came,
not sky, relinquishing all of her splendor
but fists, wood, glass, skull,
the kind of relentlessness that leaves the body
fetal, the mind
barely the size of an atom.
I looked up the statistics,
analysed it against pay,
curled into a space of sound and smoke and leather
and waited for the real rain
to peel off the second skin
that comes when we all
feel afraid.

After We Got Out Of The Rain
After we got out of the
rain and stripped down,
we laid on the bed naked
and humped each other.

Storm Theory
Stormy
weather rarely
makes for a dull
afternoon. The greying
skies that most despise
illuminate each time the bolts
commune. The subsequent thunder
roars because it's startled by the lightening.
The clouds cry out as desire dies, it's distant
warning leaves them frightened. The first fork
strikes, holding hands with the branch that
breaks through canvas of green. The promise
of calm and the grounding of nature take
turns to intervene. A voice through clouds
and misty rain as good a comfort
as any....

Hiding Teardrops
Raindrops dangle from the gnarled tree's ripe berries.
Like suspended sparkling tears that revolt the fall.
As we falsely be merry.
Inevitably the teardrop will fall to ground.
Why did it cling so hard.
Below eyes of iris shards.
You might get an- oh be strong.
How dare you to peddle advice
Without ever standing in my shoe.
Tears hid inside veins, as words form lies.
A mother somewhere echoed- hide your teardrops.
Conceal your pain.
When someone asks how you are,
do they really care to know?
Pleasantries do not...
