Easter Reading
In Lima – Peru- a hippo was pulling the tram car with
its best friend, a water buffalo. They had ended up
here, far from Africa, after the great flood ebbed and
had been blessed with eternal life, only being mere
animals, they didn´t know this. In Lima, no one made
a big issue of this, but when the wider world knew
and some adventurers set about trying to kill the pair,
in vain, the Lima people took another look, especially
since the church thought they were the devil´s own
handiwork, god would never have allowed beasts ...

With a fond farewell
With a fond farewell
Though it's time for us to all to go now has we all go our separate ways, I will look back at the DUP and remember the fondest of poetic days
So many of the kind words support and things that made me smile, comments by a stranger that would lift you from a down day even if it was only for a while
Reading other people's poetry wishing you had their writing skills, glimpses at their view on life and how their life makes them feel
Sharing moments of pure happiness and things that made me sad, often imagined naughty kinky pieces...

WHAT IS A POET?
NO
doubt the quick answer is:
"A person who writes poetry."
BUT
realities say a poet is more
than that. A poet is not one thing
but a combination of known
and unknown qualities.
A
poet is an evolution and is not
the same person today as the
one who wrote yesterday; and neither
the same person tomorrow as today.
THE
poet is a dreamer...observer...critic
...lover...creator...disrupter...historian...
questioner...radical...teacher, compromiser...
rigid...free.... and much, much more.
A
poet...

IF YOU WERE A ROSE
IF
YOU were a
rose I'd spend
hours admiring your
beauty, your color,
your open petals
the exotic scent and
aroma from your
stems; even the prick
of the thorns would
feel good.
IF
you were a rose I'd
water you, feed you
care for you and protect
YOU.
BUT sense you are more
beautiful than a rose I
will double my care, love,
desire and pleasuring of YOU.
OKAY?
YOU were a

DARE, SEER
To the girl who froze, yes, like stew in the fridge,
Once danced in jollof sun, now strides a snowy ridge.
Yet still she flies, feathered fierce and rare,
Because every day na another day to dare.
I remember: how you used to wake up at midnight,
Clatter in the flame-lit room,
Spices rising like war chants in smoky bloom,
Just to fix a tight meal that tasted like home.
You stirred pots like spells, with wisdom to pour,
Head sharp like blade, heart rich to the core.
Brains wey de blaze, hands that bless --
Queen of soup and dreams no...

Fireflies At Night
You might not believe your eyes at the sight.
Of a sky,covered in fireflies at night.
Like nightlights far,far away.
That wink at you and save you from your woes any day.
As you sleep,they cover up the sky.
Maybe if you dream of it,you'll end up high.
If you ask me how they shine.
When starlight and shimmer combine.
It's like magic from far,far away.
That help you and comfort you all the way.
And you get a thousand hugs that night.
Of shining fireflies in a great height.
Let them lift you up as one of their...

Restore Me
As I rise upon another day in my own life, I will always give my thanks to GOD ALMIGHTY. WHO has been my angel 😇 watching over me all the nights and days of my life, with the things that have somehow change my life and turn my world around. But yet through my cancer I've learned, more about my self in so many ways, that even I was surprised how strong, I was and am not giving up on life. Yet what I can say is that, I've never gave up on my faith and beliefs. But yet as it's been four years since, my diagnosis of cancer I still keep standing and fighting for this precious gift of life....

of mice and men
Of Mice and Men
The mice in Belgium do not eat fine chocolate
They scoff at imported Swiss cheese
And have only contempt for a left- over bacon burgers,
they feast on plans of roads and buildings
I blame EU for this the mice have bureaucratic
And go through stacks of programs especially those
About repairing tunnels and roads
Bureaucrats of any hue are working overtime
Try keeping up this losing battle against mice
So many cars choking up the roads Islamists
Have to go to Paris when blowing up people.
The British demand for...

QUE FIT NO SERA SERA
"Que Sera Sera;” one of the lies that’s been passed down in ages
A sweet lullaby for the lazy
a lullaby that kills the will
We’re told; “Whatever will be; will be;”
but forget that what will be needs 'Will' to be
Destiny isn’t a scripted play; it’s a field
And man was gifted a tool; the name is "will"
Yet we sit; fold arms; and call it fate
as if the Most High created us to spectate
Not every dream dies because it wasn’t meant to be
Some die because someone refused to will it into being
