The dog of my life
This is not an evening when one feels jubilant
When I look out of the window, I see a few cars going up and down the road till they reach the roundabout and drive back past my window
There is nothing to be surprised about in this town, dramatic car crashes happen in America
Where Hollywood is afire
When I lived in the countryside and had a dog
We walked in the forest and there were always new things to discover, often we stood still and listened to the silence, we could hear trees Coming home I lit the wood stove while the dog

Light In The Darkness
Where there is jealousy
There is often strife.
Whether you are fortunate or unfortunate
Someone will always long for what you have.
From the expensive crystal chandelier on your wall
To the only shirt you have on your back
Jealousy often leads to strife.

the glory
The glory of vanity
This Saturday started well
I did my exercise, two toasts and coffee
Going to a café for lunch, elegantly driving
There, this, for winter- mild day
As I entered a person rushed in front of me
Opened the door wide, I thanked him grandly
But I felt old, is this the way people see me
At home when not compared to someone youthful
I dance in the living room and feel
Glorious, but outside, my feet are reluctant to
Lift from the ground
I wish people would see me then and not the doddering old fool

One Free Dream Card
Tell me this is not a dream. I’m sorry, yes it is, but do not worry because I have good news,
that life is but a transient dream.
We are all inserted into this dream with one dream-come-true card in our pocket. It is not ours to play. The cosmos will play it for us because it knows better, but when it is played it will be as unassuming and miraculous as the birth of a child.

why is it that we who have no connection
with those who have the power of what
gets heard and published.
Today, we drove from Cascais to Lisbon
a drive that usually took half an hour
it took an hour more because of modern time
had upset the calculation
a modern society is measured by how many
cars are on the road at the same time
we who sit at home are in the news reminded
of this by those who call this progress
after this profound observation, the rest is
pointless history is eaten by false history

I refuse to cry over lost friends
I`m drunk too
It feels good to up the anchor of sobriety
Let alcohol give winds to my sails.
I`m a clipper buying tea in China
not useless toys
Sleek the line, the women admired me

In my village in the Algarve, I met a retired
Captain in the US Army, he had a military walk
and tended to dress like he was on a safari
He had a house in Florida with crocodiles
on the lawn, he never said what he did when
in the army. perhaps the catering corps
on his travel to see Europe, he had in Portugal
met a plump middle-aged woman and decided
to stay for a while, and since few spoke English

Bird
To be a bird
The goal is to learn how to fly
Not to sink down quickly to the ground
As others walk on by
You must catch the wind
soar and swoops
Doing all these magnificent tricks
above the roofs
Life in any form
Is difficult to navigate
To adapt and change
To avoid unnecessary hate
I like being that bird
If only in my mind
See where the wind takes me
Wherever I go I'll be just fine.
