fallen, is fallen, babylon
funeral song of the serpent
“And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen,
that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine
of the wrath of her fornication.”—Revelation 14:8 (KJV)
once comely as a thousand morns,
he sat next to the Master's Feet
till in his heart was found deceit:
Michael would wear a Crown of Thorns.
when eve, astray from adam's side,
heeded the serpent's cunning voice,
the earth reeled from her bitter choice;
naked to truth, sin could not hide.

My father hung in the belfry
so many called him father, but the old woman in the house where I lived
said he was my father.
When I met Mother superior, her eyes softened for a moment.
The hanging was an accident.
At his funereal, the bishop attended to stop rumours of suicide.
The old woman and I watched the proceeding at a far distance.
I did see the face of the prioress in the window
unblinkingly stern, but in the afternoon glow,
she had tears in the corner of her eyes.
The old woman cackled and said, she gave you to...

New World Philosophy
The world as we knew it has become destabilized;
The single-polar world of the 90's and it's values have been compromised;
Clashes between totalitarian regimes and democracy are highly globalized;
Economies have been immobilized by international villains of enterprise.
Inquiring eyes look to the skies, but are blocked out by coal emissions;
Material possessions obstruct compromising on capitalist inhibitions;
CO2 transmissions put man in position to gain for profit acquisitions;
The environment destabilizes so life becomes nomadic deposition.

“If thou art rich, thou art poor; for, like an ass, whose back with
ingots bows, thou bearest thy heavy riches but a journey, and
death unloads thee.”—William Shakespeare
to know the right and yet do wrong
differs the weak man from the strong.
cleaving the dark and slighting light
homages error over right.
loathing to love and loving hate
martyrs the stranger at your gate.
pursuits of plunder and of war
fashions of peace a deadly scar.
injustice rules where virtue begs;
rich men piss wine, poor men drink dregs.

Of knowledge and excuses
Oh, dawn of my life!
How sweet your fluid lips ~
underneath the sea, he dives,
a seeker of decaying ships.
To me, depths frighten my sorrows,
they art a domain so dense,
Neptune whirpools swallows
but the volume remains immense.
Afeard art the cats of water;
they hiss, the fur doest bristle,
the winter wind tears scatters,
frosty snowflakes, whistl'd.
But children art smileless,
they art burden'd in solitude,
f'r the mature art heartless
and their...

seedtime & harvest
What we plant in the soil of contemplation, we shall
reap in the harvest of action.”—Mesiter Eckhart
my weed seeds
drink the rain
and eat the fertile soil,
thus lavishing their appetite
till pregnant with weed grain.
too soon they
yield their crops,
fruiting the vast terrain.
from former rain and latter rain
their bumper harvest drops.
my word seeds
bless or curse
the ears on which they fall;
their yield may heal the aching heart
or render victims worse.
my deed seeds...

ANATHEMA
your silence
confirmed
my wickedness --
my light
shone cold and black
as sin
and how i begged
and wished
and wanted
and how you never heard
a word i said --
just turned
your kindly head
and looked to save
more worthy souls
and how long
i knelt there
wanting
and how hard
i tried to conjure
the mighty god of love
that he might
slay my demons
and send me
on my way,
blessed
and emanating the bright warm
joy of salvation
and how quiet
that...

Dignity
Salt in the wounds.
Dig it in.
Dignity -
is a fool's solace.
Doing the right thing
for the
wrong reasons
is not enough to go on
in the end.
Retracing the path leads
to a moment
where you know
you shouldn't have
pushed
the issue.
Stop trying
to incite
blind violence
whenever it feels
most
comfortable.
Dig it in,
dignity is
a fools
game,
when its brass tacks
on the table,
don't put your elbows
down
when you eat.
Don't...
Dig it in.
