Being Configured For Another Country
Many don’t realise how big the struggle can be
To be able to adopt and adapt to another language and way of life
Moving away from home to a culture that rejects and disregards all that you loved dearly
The voices and sounds that make you who you are as a human being
Sights of family and friends who have been in your life from childhood
From a carefree spirited life to a mean distant existence of loneliness
Where closeness and oneness of the togetherness of people is absent
Replaced by everything and anything that is empty and cruel
Change devouring in...

Stages and Books
I'll never say these words outloud
Will never be a household name
My words won't be wrapped in paper
To be given full of nerves on a holiday
My phrases will be known to few
On a site I've been on since I was young
I don't know how people can do it
To stand before an audience and say poetry
I did that once and changed the words around
I said fuck love and got disqualified
Such things happen when I try to win prizes
My words dont make a lot of sense to people
My grammar isnt always correct
I rarely use punctuation and rarely...

Another Colossus?
Whiles valiantly attempting slumber I heard a broadcast, which I'm certain was the radio, regarding singer Kate Smith. Though long deceased, she is just now finally getting into trouble about singing a racist song or two. I do not sympathize with her since I am convinced that I would have gotten into Dutch right away had I been the culprit singer.
It is noteworthy that there is a now disgraced statue of her that has been removed from it's place of honor and covered up by a cloth. I am all for it. In fact, we should regularly replace all statuary every twenty years or so. (Good for...

I Escaped, But Only Just - Part 13: Obstacles
It’s difficult to imagine that a few spoken sentences could have such a catastrophic effect in the long run - but that’s exactly what happened. For a while, the Jewish Youth club opened up new social opportunities. Discos. Which I enjoyed. But a group of kids came each Sunday and Thursday who had lots of money and behaved in a spoilt manner, judging others less fortunate.
My family wasn't neccessarily poor. However, we weren't affluent enough to be part of that group who flew abroad regularly in the latest designer clothes. In many ways, this didn’t bother me then. I saw enough...

The Rubber Neck
Blame the media when it's wrong
Blame the media when it's right
Blame the media all night long
In conspiratorial fright...
Because you are addicted to hear
All sorts of things that trouble you
To boil anger with a fear
Whether or not those things are true.
So read that news and read it well
On some myriad internet page
About a percolating hell
Of urban and suburban rage,
Never thinking of all the harm
Built into havoc's ugly charm.

UNICORN CASSEROLE (poor man"s bump)
UNICORN CASSEROLE
I can't say that I have a clear perception of time
but on one day of deception I was drinking some wine
with a friend of mine, Mr. Phillip McPearson
who in reality wasn't actually a real person
He was an ex-con leprechaun
a fact that I never did dwell upon
He would visit from time to time on occasion
when I had whiskey and rye as persuasion
I puffed some pot and passed him the bowl in a glow
and he told me about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow
With a sinful grin this bloke told me the joke
about the...

I Escaped, But Only Just - Part 6: Family Tension
The daily bus journeys to school were beginning to prove tiring, so my parents moved home, closer to the school. A couple of streets away from the new house stood the tallest factory chimney in Europe. Further on was a secluded muddy trail that weaved its way through playing fields, back onto the main road – ideal for walking the dog. The hill on the opposite side of the main road led up to a grass summit with a pylon visible from our backyard. In the other direction, a pathway rose up another hill with cottages set back from the lane, leading to several miles of fields and farms, hemmed in...

I Escaped, But Only Just - Part 3: Undercurrents Of Disquiet
A year or so passed. My older brother Brian started at a prestigious school, but my middle brother Robin and I struggled, both at school and at home. We had phobias. We’d hide when my mother used to the blender in the kitchen, running from the sound that filled the house with its frightening and echoing din. We had repetitive nightmares about ghosts, the same nightmare with similar characters.
In one dream, we found ourselves playing drums in a band that the ghosts had organised, and I remember the bedroom being obscured in some way – foggy perhaps, even though the light was on. ...

Pity me I have BPD
My pettiness is my selfishness
in your hour of need
I will let you bleed.
For my personal gain
I will inflict your pain.
My good manners look like I welcome you in with banners.

upon the fear of being misinterpreted
I have trouble with a sausage
skin shouldn’t matter, I know, and I don’t mean to sound racist, but
I do find it difficult to swallow
