A Vacation
on a vacation from their wives two men did gallivant
in a merry tipsy gait britches all askew
singing together happily causing quite the brouhaha
quite a sight they were with their antics and shenanigans
at night beer in hand they walked the street
a jalopy they found thought it would be sweet
to give pity to its situation take it for a drive
on the streets they drove without care for the rigamarole
their laughter rang through the night
with skull duggery in mind they stood together
their daring tipsy groove flummoxed all ...

One day a pig and a turkey in pens side by side find themselves talking. The pig ask the turkey, “what are you in for.” The turkey say, “I’m in for Thanksgiving.” The pig says, “dam that’s hard time.” The turkey ask the pig, “well what are you in for.” The pig said, “I’m in for Christmas.” The turkey said, “well that’s hard time also.” The pig said, “ no it could be a fifty-fifty chance for me.”

Poinsettia Red Lipstick
As the festive wind howls its cheer
For the upcoming Christmas Year
I always light a candlestick
To a time of Poinsettia Red Lipstick
When my Abuela would sit and sew me
Dresses on her singer sewing machine
With smoke threading the holiday air
By a single abandoned cigarette
Stub wedged into the slot
Of her black acrylic ashtray
Decorated with red halo rings
Of mini Poinsettia wreaths
My home now adorned with
Embracing hugging presents
Each vibrant plant display
Her essence and presence...

Silent Night, Holy Night
The Eastern Sun Kingdom
Twas Good Cheer
Oh, my King we are getting too old for this
Woman, we are melaninated, and created from the inhale and exhale of His nostrils, we are sacred cosmic dust upon the winds that drift
You still look the utopia of yesteryear, and sexy as Heaven’s twinkling stars
That’s only because you weakened me when I crossed your threshold bearing my presents, and after that night on your sleigh bed, looking back we’ve come so far
Gray haired after all these years, yet still giving humanity its much rewarded...

The holidays were quiet
how it all changed
through the years
empty seats at the dinner table
less laughter
So much emphasis
on one day
And this year
as schedules
and timing dictated
I spent it alone
and survived
But I would be lying
if I said I didn't miss the company
Or those smells of the feast
I never thought as I got older
that connection would be farther away
but it is
and I hope that when it finally happens
it will be about...
