Nice Guy Chronicles VIII
It was the new year
Holiday season was over
And everyone had to go back home
I enjoyed my time away
It was great to explore a new area
However coming back I knew what I had to do
She had been on my mind all the time
It did also help that we always kept in touch
Now here's the crazy part
I started to have a hunch that
she actually liked me in a romantic manner
Not out of the blue
But since we were young
I've always been a bit oblivious
to people liking me
which has lead me to some funny...

PRE MORTEM PILLOW THOUGHTS ON LOSS (10-19-1995, Galveston Island, Texas)
i lay my head down
upon your cold pillow
but at the moment
you are no longer here
i can t help but wonder
if this is what my shroud
might feel like
after i m gone and no longer here too
that is
if
the so called dead
can even still feel at all
i wonder if my own great beyond
might feel and seem as calm
as empty and peaceful as this
such a rare place
of no more mental thinking
sounds so relatively good
almost too good to possibly be true at all
where there will be nothing there
to remind me ...

Chasing Shadows
Endless dots of light fill a black sky.
I'm in the car, my arm on the window.
This soft breeze caresses me as endless flat planes sweep by me.
A sigh carries on the wind; its words a spell that conjures forth dreams from the nebulous mists of the past.
Somewhere in those mists, you wait for me, not as a viper, but as a kind and gentle pain I would smother myself with, if I could.
I don't even know how to drive, but I'm driving westward, away from it all on this quiet road.
The guitar strings play their soft song of sorrow through the radio.

I try to heal the wound you left behind
by dating someone else

When I look at him I just wish he was you
There are so many things that I can't do

There was this girl,the fairest of them all.
