In foster care...
At thirteen, I was in foster care...
out in the country with a kind older couple
named Hank and Ellen who never abused me.
I was fed three times a day! I always finished my plate.
I had a room of my own...first time!
They bought me new clothes that fit me
and they were always clean and smelled outdoorsy.
Did I mention they never abused me?
I could run and play. Stare at clouds. I helped
collect eggs from the chicken coop. I had a kitten named Tiny and I even had a favorite tree!!! Nice!
NO ONE HIT ME OR TOUCHED ME THERE! Nicer! ...

A Gift
Good Morning to each of you. I went to bed last night without any gifts under the tree.
I woke up this morning and there were a whole bunch of gifts waiting to be opened.
The power of magic if you believe in something.
As I approached each gift, I realized that every gift was from all of you.
You all are the gifts that were under my tree.
Everyone of you have made me shine since arriving here in January 2024.
The power of words, praise and feedback truly is something magical & real.
I wish all of you at DUP a Happy Holiday and Happy New Year.

an artistry in the spilling of words onto the page
finessing the thoughts
stringing them together in a way to make one feel
deeply and passionately with tempo, rhythm and rhyme
sublime feeling when you get it just right
troubling the depths stirring emotions
connecting with one another
we poets are a different breed
hunting for just the right word play
something soft to fall on the ears
it's in the versed I find God
sleepiness of soul and I'm dreaming

my mind turns happiness over...

The prize is loving you and that's all I need.
Your laughter, your smile is always guaranteed.
It's the smell of your hair while laying next to me.
Holding you at night, knowing I'm your safety.
It's the way you look at me when you're angry.
Like there's a little demon about to break free.
It's your voice when you sing slightly off key.
You do it with joy because it makes me happy.

I pick up my brush.
And I don't paint in a rush.
I begin to paint a rosy bush.
Roses,covered in thorns.
I paint a lively,blue sky.
And bumblebees,birds that begin to fly.

The Honeyed Quest in haiku
Whispers on the breeze
a meadow’s heart starts fading,
nectar crown grows dim.
Golden fields tremble,
petals bow to coming drought,
bees hum tales of fear.
Small Melis takes flight,
a spark against looming dusk,
her heart pure as light.
Through the grand forest’s shade,
ants hoard crystals sharp as glass
she gifts royal gold.
Sap glows soft and sweet,
they share a feast, unity
woven in their dance.
The lilies’ mirror,
rippling fears in darkened waves

I pushed everyone away and you're still here
When i need to reach out you're always near
