Always get to know someone before visiting them
My good friend who I met several months back asked me to visit her in Texas
This was the 1st time ever coming to the Lone Star State
HELL YEAH!
We've spoken online, on the phone & through e-mail
She's a great woman
Knowledgeable, inquisitive, personable & very attractive
She lived quite far from the airport, so I decided to have an uber driver pick me up
The drive was over an hour
I told her that I was going to call when I arrived
When I finally arrived, I couldn't believe how much property she had
Living on the east coast, we don't...

Billiard Ball #1
She's waiting on line at a grocery store
She's buying a few items for dinner tonight
When she pulled out her wallet, she dropped her billiard ball she carries with her at all times
It was rolling away
The number on it was "1"
This was from a pool table she had many many years ago
She kept it because it symbolizes a time in her life
Her husband was a very very nasty and abusive man
There were numerous times she was violently attacked & raped
Many times their daughter witnessed this abuse
One time in...

Bullet in a Barrel
She scoffed and asked me
where I get my HEROES from
I snapped and said this
The bottom of a barrel,
and then she begged me to tell her where
I scraped my air of EGO from
and out of my mouth fell truth,
from rotten cells neath the scum
beneath the bottom of that same barrel,
Then she chimed in, pleading me, asking me
from where
did all...

Murder at the Speakeasy
Grayson Wallace had been in New York for only a day before he was invited to a speakeasy by a large and garrulous waitress in a cafe, who flirted with him in the moments between steam bellowing from a giant percolator. It was 1922 and Wallace was four years from the torments of the last, Great War, a lot of which he'd spent going mad in a makeshift French hospital from the effects of mustard gas. He hadn't been able to eat horseradish since, and this minor loss to his dietary enjoyments struck him as somehow one of the more significant details of the trauma that entailed from service.

Sell Your Wife & Remodel Your Home
Across the street my neighbor was having his house updated
New siding, new windows, new roof, new garage door etc..
I said hey Scott
Your home is gonna look amazing
He said, "Thanks, Thanks!"
I said I haven't seen your wife
He said, "Yeah well, let's just say she went on a permanent vacation"
I said, "Really? Whereabouts?"
He said, "She went to visit family in California"
Oh OK
2 weeks later I find out from another neighbor, Phil that Scott sold his wife to the military
I said, "WHAT!!?" ...

I am a fool.
I understand the meaning of the word and still, I walk like a man blind for a man starved.
My humanity exists beneath my skin and pushes up every so often like a man insane.”
The dim light of a lantern casts half of him in shadow as he says this, a solemn look on his face that doesn’t reach his widely smiling lips.
“Why are you telling me this?” Moans the soldier, clutching his side and slowly stroking the growing red patch on his uniform.
“I thought,” he pauses for moment, looking up at nothing, as if trying to...

The Ballerina
Connie was only six when she was discovered gazing at a dead rat by Madame Jenny Taylor
Madame once assoluta at the Ivaninski's, informed the Linguses that the child was to be her pupil
Long years of study began in her ballet school above a row of shops
Connie first came before the public as a peasant girl in Giselle, ou Les Wilis, devised by Madame to display her students abilities
Her life was rather dull and monotonous
She became aware of what real ballet was when Madame took her to one of Anya Neeze innumerable farewell performances

Life Lessons pt 4 (Revelations)
(It did not rain all the time in London. The sidewalks were cleaner. Older Londoners love to have tea with milk and cookies. I remember there was also a thing about flowers in the front yard and it had to look better than someone else’s)
This was our last week in the UK. David and I were allowed to see each other as long as there was an adult nearby.
My sister and I and the other cousins went to meet up with some of their friends from school. These are the same bunch of girls that offered me the cigarette.

Life Lessons pt 2 (England)
One year later, turning fourteen should not be a pivotal point in anyone’s life. Spoke too soon.
Mom told me and my sister we were all going to England to visit family for the summer. We did not know how to feel since we had never met them before. We left when the sun was setting in the city. It was a beautiful site to see through the small circular window of the plane.
She gave both of us a piece of gum and we thought that was strange since we both have braces and are not allowed to eat it normally.
“Chew it and swallow when we take off. It will help with...

My Favorite Nephews
My nephews came over for a July 4th BBQ
I forgot to child proof my basement
Down here is where I keep all of my tools, gadgets and accessories
Not tools like a hammer or pliers
Tools that I use when I write
Pencils, erasers, highlighters, scrap paper & an assortment of books and references
I encourage the kids to go downstairs because after an hour or so outside, they want to come in
I don't want them touching or going into my living room or dining room
I thought they would sit on the couch and watch tv or utilize their i-pads
I told my brother...

The Malformed Monster
Once up on a time there was a baby
Most babies are cute but this one was out-and-out ugly
The baby wasn’t morbidly obese
It was totally swollen and lumpy
One of it’s feet had 3 toes
One of its hands had 7 fingers
It’s hands were two right ones
It’s head looked oblong and distorted
Dark rings were underneath it’s beady eyes
Possibly because it never slept
It was consumed by misery
Which in this case was perfectly acceptable
A few noises came out of its mouth
Both were revolting
