Wednesday was your least favorite day and you died on a Wednesday.
After living for sixty-four years, you became sick and you passed away.
The eleventh anniversary of your death is on your least favorite day of the week.
I thought things were fine at first but then I learned that your situation was bleak.
When you went to the hospital, you had to go under the knife.
The surgeon tried his very best but he could not save your life.
He operated on your stomach and your leg had to be amputated.
But you still died and when I found you dead, I was devastated. ...

It was two decades ago today when an actor took his final breath.
When he starred in Doctor Who, he starred in "The Robots of Death".
His name was Russell Hunter and he was born in February of 1925.
Next year would've been his 100th birthday if he had survived.
Hunter starred in nineteen episodes of "The Gaffer" and one episode of "Born and Bred".

Number 18 is a number etched on the skin
a parchment of smiles through tears
a number, simple but never forgotten
written on the scabs of old wounds
18th of November a path to glory was hoed
furrowed flesh won't ever hurt as much
or whispered goodbye and signs in the cloud
of oncoming storm of soul in death's clutch
remembering the name in the echoes of time
torch burning bright like a bush aflame

Mending the Bluebird of Happiness
My friends gather into a sepia photograph like ghosts from a Fitzgerald novel wearing suspenders and dressed for the night. My partner from another life Ted meets me in a room full of tears where memories stalk his lonely hours. Our feet glide across the carpet while I carry a book to spark conversation with the spaces between us growing.
Ted tells me, “Amber looks lonely. Reading too much is bad for your marriage. Go talk to her.”
My sibling Sonny opens the door to brotherhood with me as I teeter on the brink of monasticism. ...

Pope Frances
It is a warm sunny day in Lisbon, the pope sits atop of
Mercedes Jeep, he looks like an easy target for assassins
Men in black suits and open jackets hurry alongside the jeep
except for one lifeguard, who wears a gray suit his black suit
is still at the cleaners
The pope is heading for the big park, along the route
There are thousands of young people, waving flags from many nations
Russian flag, Ukrainian banner, it is all here, except perhaps
the Israeli flag, I assume there are no catholic Jews.
Where the road narrows...

Forty years ago tonight was a very special day for me. On July 29, 1983, Mom bought gifts for my brother and I. I received an Atari 2600 and my brother received a boombox. I had wanted an Atari 2600 for two years and it was finally going to happen. I was going to get an Atari 2600.

Deceased For A Decade
He was my dad but his life came to an end.
He died and I would never see him again.
He perished after months of receiving chemotherapy.
He had Leukemia and is buried in Sneedville, Tennessee.
He was a hard worker and he worked hard for many years.
Cancer made him become ill and he died just like I feared.
He died ten years ago today on the 13th of July.
It is always sad and tragic when a parent dies.
He died and I would never see him again.

My Baby Doll - Part VII
I found you lying dead on my kitchen floor.
It was sad because you couldn't be my dog anymore.
On August the 27th of 2013, I adopted you.
It was a really wonderful thing for me to do.
I named you after my late mother when I named you Agnes.
You were special and when I adopted you, I was truly blessed.
You were a wonderful dog who I will never forget.
You were like a daughter and you were a great pet.
It was sad because you couldn't be my dog anymore.
On August the 27th of 2013, I adopted you.
It was a really wonderful thing for me to do.

Today is the 40th anniversary of when I watched Superman III in the movie theater. The movie was released on June 17, 1983 and I watched it four days later on June 21, 1983. I watched it at the Capri Four theater in Morristown, Tennessee. But at the time, it was the Capri Twin theater. When my family and I watched this movie, Capri was building two extra theaters.
