Will I Be Remembered?
Dear journal
My thoughts are troubled. The clear truth is that one day, I will face the same ending that meets all humans. I cannot escape death.
Will anyone remember me when I am ash? Will there be any record of past loves in the ruins of what once was? Will the beauty of nature, the rustling leaves, the chorus of the ocean still sing to me in the darkness that awaits? And the kindness I've known, the gentle touches, the warm smiles – will they carry any weight in that land of nothingness?
These were my thoughts as I lay in my bed missing my daughter. My...

The Dreaded Question
The Swedish man knew me as a dog lover
though I happily took over the job of feeding the stray kitties
gathered by his country house door every evening
But yeah,
dogs.
I loved my beagle, Brandy Joy
and Swedish man's Rottweiler, Daisy
and his friends' dogs
and my friends' dogs
and strangers' dogs
and dogs on TV
and the dog I met once
who had a perfect German shepherd head
on a corgi body.
The only dog I can think of,
that I couldn't quite bring myself to love,
was a friend's...

Evocation
On frozen shores where silence reigns
Beneath the stars that twist and weep
A ritual dark, in binding chains
Awakes where shadows never sleep
The skies above, they coldly lie
But deeper still, a star does glow
Reflected in the ice-bound eye
Of those who bow to what's below
At Earth’s forsaken edge they stand
With eyes cast up, but souls laid bare
And constellations, wild and grand
Speak words too ancient for the air
In darkest reaches of the night
They feel the pull of unseen gaze
Weaves through death,...

Scrat
The lengthening shadows rule
now that summer is gone
and autumn plays the weather fool
as raindrops soon respawn.
There's a streak of cold in the breeze
as squirrels gather nuts
to stash them in the drowsy trees
for nibbles into gluts.
Though winter might not be so bad
the nut fat must be packed
under the fur by which they're clad
as peanut heaps are smacked...
smacked by a constant nervous chew
reducing nuts to paste...
so quickly, that for me and you,
would leave no time for taste!

An Atheist's Scripture - Unlikely Church #4
Let us seek to understand our existence in the realm of the "already named," a world that is both vast in its cosmic indifference and intimate in its human narratives.
We are mere animals whose fate is sealed in the nature of our mortality. Our ultimate end is known to us all. Death awaits each of us without prejudice or pause. In this recognition, we must face the stark truth that we can gain no knowledge of absolute goodness during our fleeting moments under the sun. Such absolutes are constructs of the mind that seeks certainty in an indifferent universe.

Dogs and Cats
They’re eating the dogs, they’re eating the cats
They’re probably being served with a side of rat
I bet they’ve been told they’re consuming the bats
It’s the kind of head gear you’d get from an ass hat
They’re deep-frying hush puppies and grilling kittens
And if they’re baking don’t forget to bring some mittens
It’s like swinging at a web in the face that suddenly hit you
Hungry and thirsty for more hair of the dog that bit you
They’re roasting the wieners with a side of feline
Expecting to see hundreds out in the street waiting in line...

I gaze in their eyes
knowing how violent
being inside a body
you shouldn't have
to experience is.

Fight against the tiger
Ride the tiger, don’t be a liar.
Show your true self, reveal what’s inside of ya.
Kill the devil that lives inside your mind.
It think it’s time to show your razor smile.
Teeth bared, hands balled in fists,
Fight against the bottomless pit,
There must be a way out of this I have no doubt.
Fly on the tiger mind through the clouds.

what the world is worth
I love the bugs in the dirt beneath my feet
I adore the sharks which feast
I think bird’s songs are nothing short of wonderful
And even a grizzly bear could put me into safety’s lull
The plants, so complicated yet simple
The water and the complicated ways it can ripple
A flying squirrel, soaring through the brush and branches
The ways in which a species advances
A spider, the originators of fine art
A snake coiled around my arm
A groundhog, burrowed deep inside the earth
These things and others is what the world is worth
I adore the sharks which feast
I think bird’s songs are nothing short of wonderful

Being Alive
And in the silence, I suddenly understood the many ways
a person can die yet still feel alive.....unknown
The birds do not need,
the sun bright taut red berries
As a case to be merry.
Do birds know there is a tomorrow?
Where hope installs a door.
The nest builder anticipates a future.
Do birds remember a yesterday?
Regret is not in the bird's fortay.
But the warmth of the sun may feel familiar.
How much of today did you really live?
With one foot on the dusty road back,
to the memories of weight.
And one foot...

It brings me joy
Listening to my beasts
Scare off the unwanted
In a world where men
Feeling so needed
For protection
I laugh as my beasts
Screech not to me
Command not of me
Deadly
More ferocious
Than any of them
In my solitude
Without you
And any inflated (ego synonym)
I dare them
Or any
Please
Dare trespass unto my land
Tell us please
And tell it again
We need a...
