Tis in the gene where being lies
or so I've heard said,
it's the stuff that makes us alive
it also makes us dead!
It compelled us out of oceans
to crawl up on the beach,
gave us bipedal motion
and hands with which to reach,
out to the stars and far beyond
where our being bides,
with thought to wonder, needs be gone,
to seek for other minds.

Alien K and his team had been observing humans on earth for a long time by now. They had studied animals and the research had been smooth so far but it all had come to a halt when they had run into humans. On one Saturday, this one chick
named Diana drove in some hick
town and saw nobody around

What a strange night!
Firstly
Fairy folk
Feeling forlorn
And seemingly forgotten
Entered my room
From my chimney
Coughing, and spluttering
And covered in coal dust, and cobwebs
Swearing at each other
They were so busy squabbling
They seemed unaware of my presence
Until i coughed, "don't worry" said i
"It's not Covid!"
"I hope you're going to clean up this mess?"
"You come into my flat, uninvited"
"Trash it with dust, and argue!"
With not so much as a by your leave!"

a far-flung, post-apocalyptic world
where piles and piles of documents
fill up the valleys and shores
like whales beached and rotting
the wind singing
among the leaves
of carbon white and printed forms
telling Mrs Taylor that
her benefit’s been stopped
because her husband’s got a job
or advising a chemist that
a new lot of cream cannot be sold
as prostate cancer cures
it's all online, of course,
these days, but give us information and
we’ll find a way to pile it ...

it was nighttime I think when you left
but how am I to know day from night unless you separate the two
it comes down to tyranny, really
sunflowers on the winds play their music quietly
I am astounded by the beauty of what are called weeds
perhaps they weren't what was desired but I love them
with a will all their own the wild flower persists to bloom
she is alive and well you know, this universe
exhaling visions and stirring memories
it is her nature to be honest good or bad
