Today is the day
Valentine's Day you fool
Grab your partner and have a great time tonight
If he or she is taking you out to some exclusive restaurant,
Don't forget when ordering Clams, Penne and Alfredo sauce,
That there's no side order of Gonorrhea, Chlamydia or Genital Warts
V.D. or Venereal Disease can infect & destroy
Be honest, be upfront, play it safe, so you can enjoy
On Halloween you tell the kids to be cautious
Some VD can make you sick, some can make you nauseous
Don't forget the flowers, the candy and some Trojan...

Remember when you'd hold me close not in your heart but in our bed.
Where you'd put down your book and pick me up instead.
Think back to a time where lust trickled down tangled thighs.
The sound of bliss escaped the room into night skies.
Remember days where hunger carved love into our skin.
And passion had no boundaries, no fear ,no sin.
Now time, like tides, has softened touch and stilled the flame,
In its place a deeper love that’s not the same.
And if you're near or far away
Recall these words I once did say.

I call it a Hallmark holiday...

Took out the trash
Went to CVS

and I don't like the word 'romantic'
sorry Hallmark
sure, i like some things
that are 'romantic'
the color pink (light pink, silvery pink)
lace
beaches
holding hands
kisses
massages
love
but i dislike the fundamentalism
of the word 'romantic'
with its mandated Valentines Days
pre-conceived notions
expectations
disappointment
budget-breaking engagement rings
bridezillas ("my special day is ruined!")
and many 'shoulds'
i once happily shared...
