FILM BIN Amusement (2008)
A chunk of bottom-of-the-barrel trash, Amusement is a nonsensical pseudo-slasher film that often feels like it was loosely cobbled together from bits and pieces found at a studio backlot. Embarrassingly, though, it was probably someone's "vision". (You know a horror film's bad when even genre-obsessed websites like Bloody Disgusting and Gore Press are calling it "disastrous" and "incoherent".) Wikipedia describes it as an "anthology", but I'm tempted to say that that's just a polite way of saying that the story doesn't hang together. The book I'm reading
A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G Summers, a debut by a Victorian literature PhD about a New York restaurant critic and "female psychopath", a psychological phenomenon which she discusses in the first-person narrative, stylised as a sort of prison diary. She's a cannibalistic serial killer, in her early 50s. The book, therefore, is comparable to both American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis and Hannibal by Thomas Harris, though in my opinion more interesting/funnier than the former and less pulpy than the latter.
