skirted, wind blown from afar
I was not to be late for the affair
bells struck midnight
and there were two left in in the square
twelve strokes to signal we were there
we circled right
looking for a place to disappear
tongues tendered to the herd
we kissed
my bones bent to your will
it was late
stars begged us to stay
the moon in her blushed
less than casual rose state
checking out as clouds ruffled by

Grappling With Love
Just impossible to describe
Turns the screw so slowly
Life sweeps past an open window
While grappling with love
Residing in this heart
Another hundred years
Will not lessen its effect
Hiding underground
Only amplifies those echoes
That have brought me here
Seriously wait for you
Like a slobbering dog
Heightened senses wagging tail
Collar is all I need
Completing my fall
Turns the screw so slowly
Life sweeps past an open window
While grappling with love
Residing in this heart
Another hundred years
Will not lessen its effect
Hiding underground
Only amplifies those echoes
That have brought me here
Seriously wait for you

Death Is Riding In
How do we connect
If the howling wind
Brings an apocalyptic future
Death is riding in
Disconnection isolation shutters down
Souls alienate each other
Reflecting star filled skies
Are not lights of salvation
Merely false faith echoing
Choking on nature’s virus
Gazing at society slowly decaying
Human shield faltering
All falling away together
Buildings becoming wastelands
Flesh upon bone now gone
If the howling wind
Brings an apocalyptic future
Death is riding in
Disconnection isolation shutters down
Souls alienate each other
Reflecting star filled skies
Are not lights of salvation
Merely false faith echoing
Choking on nature’s virus
Gazing at society slowly decaying
Human shield faltering
All falling away together
Buildings becoming wastelands
Flesh upon bone now gone

sesquipedalian
(thirty of 30 - Official DUP NaPo/GloPoWrimo 2020)
i truly thought my ability to become the brook
i often find myself babbling about, here
and in real life would strengthen and enable
me to power through this poem a day for
thirty straight days. . .
This has not been the case!
i found myself many times in the Deep
(end of the pond) treading water, hoping
for a blinding bit of inspiration
if but for one day, at least!
But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Instead, i dribbled, spilled, threw up (arms)

Downward Spiral
It’s apocalypse now
Almost mad max like
Society on a downward spiral
Cities barren of life
Dystopian future here today
Hello nineteen eighty four
You have sneaked past the guards
Bell tolls for lost freedom
Grimly unsuspecting
This plague feeds fear
Hell’s incubus upon us
Do we deserve our fate
Microbes settling inside lungs
Presenting darkened forces
That need to be fought
Almost mad max like

Fashionista! #15: Flattening the Curve
(Manhattan tiger lockdown)
Well here I am, the panic’s got me caged
Just like a million others in this town.
I wouldn’t mind if it were all the rage
In quarantine while COVID’s going round.
My daughter’s doing lessons on her Pad
Secluded in her room the way she likes.
I’m catching up on all the latest fads
In fashion ads last Fall betwixt the spikes.
It isn’t spikes that has me feeling down
Or even that there’s not much to live on.
Manhattan is my home & my playground,
A party that I’d throw...

Troubled Times
Solitude
Hits mass hysteria
Insanity given form
Through empty shelves
Tormented souls
In the dark
Troubling times
Still far ahead
Virus train
Has reached its destination
Many days
Led by silence
Desolated streets
Like old ghost towns
Sirens pepper silent breezes
Giving some appearance of life
We never signed up
For all this
Hits mass hysteria
Insanity given form

Don't ask a hungry teen for poetry prompts
Bananas,” he said
off the top of his head,
“They’re yummy, and radioactive,” he smiles.
Are you kidding? You brat!
What can I do with that??
But I let myself ponder bananas a while.
I could wax sentimental,
and write a parental
remembrance of babies just learning to eat.
Perhaps talk of sweetness,
that aching completeness
when finally a soul mate you happen to meet.
Or I could reminisce
‘bout that comforting kiss
when I tried (and I failed at) banana cream pie.
I could write a big rant
of a world...

Chameleon
at the end
knowing the ropes is key
opening locked doors
positioning your way into view
and what a view
cool breezes on a sultry afternoon
not realizing
she's a real chameleon
with a coat of many colours
a challange to capture
as her rapture, rattles around my mind
and she's always on my mind
wiggling her way
through the broken and the pain
I hold my candle closer
in the rain
still lit
with a fire burning deep
wet t-shirt clinging to my skin
you rip...

No verse today thank you (Day 29)
Brains a bit fried,
scrambled too
add some toast and enough for a meal.
No message today
no underlying analogy
nor some pearl of wisdom penned in word
nor point of view to preach in poetic verse.
What you see is what you get;
some letters and words lying down
too tired to form something;
that early morning feeling of not wanting to leave bed,
sometime the move will be made
just not yet
five more minutes
Message on snooze.

April’s Agathokakological Arduousness
(twenty-nine of 30 - Official DUP NaPo/GloPoWrimo 2020)
i suppose this spill, its gist, the meaning
is all wrapped up neatly in its Title, its
nomenclature.
At last, only two toiling tasks to go;
No more tiresome tangents taken
(un-full)filling hours of trying to
dig up prompts from an emptied
pail of brain matter sweating out
fifty unique letters strewn together
foaming at the mouth forming
words thereby creating another
spill.
Thing is, after You peruse

From The Belov’ed
After l have a microwaveable
half chicken pot pie for dinner
I mute the news according to
Trump, to fix some Twinings,
then put my feet up for a read
of verses chosen by Jackie O.
I gradually realize it’s outside,
there’s the lilting mesmerized
vibe of a middle eastern sing
drifting from out a screenless
apartment window where we
are all isolated now that night
has fallen & the courtyard is
serenely still around the pool.
The older man is Arabic I think ...
